Georgia Bulldogs 23 for '23: No. 6 Kamari Lassiter
Georgia’s turn at SEC Media Days has passed, and with that the focus is very quickly turning to the football field. Fall camp begins in less than two weeks, and we’re counting down the days with out look at who the most important Bulldogs might be.
As we’ve stated before, important can have different definitions. Some players’ importance for this season is based on their past performance and ability to repeat that this fall. For others, it’s about their potential and what living up to it would mean for Georgia and its chances at winning a third straight National Championship. Now at No. 6 on our list of most important Bulldogs, cornerback Kamari Lassiter.
Kamari Lassiter
Position: Cornerback
Class: Junior
Height: 6-foot-0
Weight: 180 pounds
Hometown (High School): Savannah, Ga. (American Christian Academy)
Kamari Lassiter was fighting for a starting spot this time last year. Not only did he lock that down, but he established a reason for Georgia fans to be confident coming into this season.
Lassiter started all 15 games for the Bulldogs opposite of Kelee Ringo, totaling 38 stops including five tackles for loss. He also had four pass breakups. Lassiter’s season saw particularly impressive performances come against Tennessee when he had a season-high total of tackles and Kentucky when he recorded a pair of stops for loss, all a part of a three-week stretch in which he had pass breakups in each contest.

Now with Ringo gone, Lassiter is the team’s top cornerback. Georgia doesn’t use player specific matchups most of the time, instead sticking to their respective sides of the field, but if the Bulldogs were do to so this year, Lassiter would be the one drawing the toughest matchup.
Lassiter is a leader. He made the trip to Nashville with Kirby Smart for SEC Media Days and has been a level-headed, cool, calm and collected spokesperson for the defense. He’ll do that once again in 2023, also bringing along Georgia’s younger defensive backs as a part of one of the nation’s top secondary units.
Know the Quote
“He’s played good, and he could probably tell you himself, he’s got a lot of areas he can improve in,” Georgia coach Kirby Smart said about Lassiter last season. “But he’s a good football player. He tackles well, he’s smart, he listens. But I’m proud of what he’s done for our team.”
“Eating off the floor is just a mentality: You’re not too big for anything,” Lassiter said of his mentality for the upcoming season. “You’re not too big to do the little things right, you’re not too big to do the things that got to you where you are … Eating off the floor is just going in and approaching every day like it’s your last day, giving your best at every opportunity you have.”
