Georgia Bulldogs Countdown to Kickoff: 89 Days
Unlike my golf game, the Georgia Bulldogs have broken 90. We’re 89 days away from the Dawgs and Ducks kicking off at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
And there’s no one we would rather recognize to celebrate the occasion than the one and only Benjamin Watson.
Georgia football currently holds the title of Tight End U. It isn’t a replacement for RBU. But it’s quickly becoming a thing.
Call it a ‘new money’ Tight End U.
Todd Hartley and company are wise to promote it.
Benjamin Watson got the party started
Way back before HD television and online streaming services, Benjamin Watson was a Duke transfer with a message for SEC defenses.
I’m a Georgia tight end now. I’m here to dominate.
And that’s what he did. In three seasons with the Dawgs, Watson hauled in 65 receptions for 852 yards and six touchdowns. Two of those scores came in SEC Championship games.

Gators faithful react to Billy Napier news
Georgia named Watson its offensive captain in 2003, and he also earned all-SEC honors while in Athens. Turns out, transferring from Duke was a good decision.
He also had one of the most memorable hustle plays in NFL history, against a fellow former Georgia Bulldog great. Champ Bailey may be in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, but Watson will never let him live this one down.
Just 89 days left. They’ll sneak up on you like Benjamin Watson. Act accordingly.
