Georgia Bulldogs Countdown to Kickoff: 91 Days
The Georgia football Bulldogs defend their highly-sought after National Championship in 91 days. Kirby Smart doesn’t think so, but that’s just how the saying goes.
So, what’s significant about the number 91 in Georgia football history?
In keeping with the series we started with number 99, here’s a look back at the 1991 football season.
Ray Goff’s Dawgs needed to bounce back after his career stumbled out of the gate, and they did just that with a 9-3 season.
Look, it was the early 90’s Alabama and Florida dominated. But this season a was one of the silver linings in Ray Goff’s head coaching career.

Garrison Hearst led these Georgia Bulldogs on offense
Garrison Hearst can not be appreciated enough as part of RBU.
His 1991 season wasn’t his best in a Georgia uniform, but it proved that he could lead the Dawgs’ backfield. Hearst finished with 153 carries and 968 yards, plus a team-leading nine touchdowns.
That put him at third-best in the SEC in rushing yards, and tied for fourth in rushing touchdowns.
One other notable addition to the Dawgs in 1991?
A walk-on by the name of Will Muschamp.
Wonder what this guy would think if you told him he’d be on the defensive staff of his National Champion alma mater 30 years later?
Or that he would have been a head coach at Florida before that?
