Georgia Bulldogs Countdown to Kickoff: Day 44

We’re 44 days out from Georgia Bulldogs football. Some of these ‘number’ days are easier than others. Today is one of those days.
Travon Walker wore the ‘4’s when he was a Dawg. Now that he is the Jacksonville Jaguars number-one overall draft pick, it appears the Jags will let him keep the number as a pro.
Here’s what the pride of Upson-Lee’s been up to lately down in JAX – a place where he and his Dawgs went 2-1 against the Florida Gators:
I don’t think Jacksonville’s ever looked that cool. Travon Walker joins fellow Georgia native Trevor Lawrence as the Jaguars’ back-to-back number one overall draft picks.
Travon Walker earned that spot with ferocious DL play for the Georgia Bulldogs
Walker was a sneaky first overall draft pick.
There was little to no buzz about Walker going #1 overall right after he and the Dawgs beat Alabama in Indianapolis to claim the National Championship.
Michigan defensive end Aidan Hutchinson, who Georgia just beat in the CFP Semifinal Orange Bowl, was supposed to have that spot.
Then, the Dawgs went back to Indianapolis for the NFL Draft Combine.
In both visits to Indy, Walker had a career-high seven QB hurries against Alabama, ran a 4.51 40-yard dash, and had a 10’3″ broad jump.

Both results were top-10 at his position group. Only two defensive ends ran faster 40 times.
In the months that followed, a buzz about Walker grew into a full-blown first-pick reality.
He finished his Georgia Bulldogs career as a National Champion, a top Draft pick, and with 65 total tackles and 9.5 sacks.

Cade Brock runs the DGDOutdoors instagram account.
With new NIL freedoms and the opportunity to partner with Georgia’s Classic City Collective, players can create their own content (and potentially benefit from sponsorships) in a way unlike anything before it.
That’s the vision for Brock’s effort. I need to get out there soon and check it out.
Even more interesting than that, Brock is listed as a fullback on the Georgia Bulldogs’ roster. Kirby Smart’s been on the record as wanting to eliminate the fullback position in years past. Something to keep an eye on, for sure.
Whether Brock actually plays in that role is yet to be seen. But he’s sure to identify with Kirby Smart’s mic-drop of a quote at SEC Media Days:
