Georgia Bulldogs Countdown to Kickoff: 63 Days
We’re just over two months from toe meeting leather in Mercedes-Benz Stadium, when Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs will take on former defensive coordinator Dan Lanning and the Oregon Ducks.
There’s a great player that wears 63 for the Bulldogs in Sedrick Van Pran, and he would have definitely been an easy choice for this spot given his importance on the roster.
Still, there was another 63 that jumped out.
That’s because in the record-breaking NFL draft showing from the Bulldogs, pick 63 was one of Georgia’s best.
With the 63rd overall choice in the second round of the 2022 draft, the Buffalo Bills selected the dynamic and versatile James Cook.
A Consensus four-star running back from Miami Central, Cook emerged from the wide shadow of his brother, Minnesota Vikings star and former Florida State Seminole Dalvin, in his four years with the Bulldogs and asserted himself as a star in his own right.
There were plenty of Georgia highlights along the way for Cook, but his seminal moments in red and black came in the two biggest games of the Championship season against the Wolverines of Michigan and in the rematch with the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Cook put the Michigan defense on skates all night, recording a career-high 112 receiving yards, and against the Tide, he recorded another career mark with a 67-yard run in the third.
Showing up in those big moments and being utilized as a Swiss Army knife for the Bulldogs in his career boosted Cook in the draft.
No doubt the Dawgs will have big shoes to fill with Cook’s departure, but the moments he left will stand the test of time, certainly.
