Georgia Bulldogs Countdown to Kickoff: 86 Days
We are 86 days away from kickoff to the 2022 Georgia Football season, and No. 86 John FitzPatrick put the finishing touches on the Bulldogs’ record breaking 2022 NFL Draft class as the 15th Georgia player selected. FitzPatrick joined Travon Walker, Jordan Davis, Quay Walker, Devonte Wyatt, Lewis Cine, George Pickens, James Cook, Nakobe Dean, Channing Tindall, Zamir White, Jake Camarda, Justin Shaffer, Jamaree Salyer and Derion Kendrick in getting picked. FitzPatrick was also the second player picked by the Atlanta Falcons joining Justin Shaffer.
FitzPatrick was seemingly the least likely to get drafted, and for Georgia to break the previous NFL Draft record held by Ohio State and LSU, he was going to have to be picked. The Bulldogs tied their record of 14 at the No. 212 overall pick in the sixth round before just one pick later, Georgia was in a class of its own.
Everything had to go right for Georgia in the 2022 NFL Draft to break the record, and it did. But FitzPatrick was just as much of a part of everything going right for Georgia during the 2021 campaign when the Bulldogs brought home the National Championship for the first time in 41 years.

“This group had that ‘it factor,’” Smart said about the draft class ahead of the NFL Draft. “They played off each other. They love each other. They wanted to do something special. There were so many of them, and they really clocked on the field. That’s not something that you coach.”
