With just 45 days until the Georgia faithful gather around televisions, radios, streaming platforms, parking lots, sports bars, or even Mercedes Benz Stadium, we’re taking another look back on the magical 2021 season for the Bulldogs and a 45 that felt oh so sweet and secured a key moment.

11-0 Georgia, ranked as the nation’s No. 1 team in the nation, would travel to the heart of Atlanta, as they will in early September.

There, they would meet the 3 and 8 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets on Grant Field at Bobby Dodd Stadium for another edition of Clean, Old Fashioned Hate.

And boy, did the Dawgs take out some hate on the team from North Avenue.

Quarterback Stetson Bennett would be magnificent, going 14-20 of the day for 225 yards and four touchdowns.

Kenny McIntosh would contribute 66 yards on two rushes and a touchdown. Daijun Edwards was happy to pitch in from the backfield, as well, putting up 43 yards and a score.

Brock Bowers would do Brock Bowers things, with three receptions for 100 yards and two touchdowns. One would be among his most impressive of the season, leaving the entirety of the Yellow Jacket defense in the dust.

Jermaine Burton and Ladd McConkey would also pitch in a touchdown each on the day.

Also notable on the offensive front was the first appearance of George Pickens during the 2021 season, as he caught a single bar for five yards.

The defensive effort was largely collective and stifling (as most shutouts of this nature are), though Jalen Carter led in the tackle category.

In putting up a 45-0 victory, the Bulldogs also almost secured the largest margin of victory in series history, just three points shy of the 1943 mark.

Overall, it wouldn’t be much of a challenge for the Bulldogs to leave out of Atlanta with a win, but in the process, Georgia would secure its first undefeated regular season since 1982.

You probably know how the rest of the season went, but to cap off the regular schedule with a win against the hated Yellow Jackets?

That’s a chef’s kiss.

Currently, the Bulldogs hold a four-game winning streak in the series, and the Dawgs also hold a 69-41-5 edge, as well.

It’s hard to see things changing anytime soon, but we’re guessing that’s just fine with everyone in Athens.
