Georgia Bulldogs Countdown to Kickoff: 54 Days
We’re going day-by-day on the lead-up to Georgia’s opening week matchup with the Oregon Ducks in the Chick-Fil-A Kickoff Classic in the heart of downtown Atlanta.
With just 54 days left, we’re guessing you might know the direction this one will go.
We thought about giving some love to Justin Shaffer, and we should.
An AP and Coaches All-SEC second-team guard, Shaffer started all 15 games for the Bulldogs in the 2021 season and featured on as many snaps as anyone not named Sedrick Van Pran and after five seasons with the Bulldogs, left as a National Champion.
He’ll be close by for Dawg fans to see, as well, as Shaffer heard his name called in the sixth round of the NFL draft by the Atlanta Falcons, making him part of Georgia’s record-setting draft class.
But c’mon now.
Shaffer was great, but did you really think we’d miss an opportunity to play the hits again?
You might remember that 54 seconds was precisely the amount of time left on the clock at the end of Kelee Ringo’s 79-yard interception return to seal the National Championship for the Bulldogs.

One of only seven picks Young would throw on the season, it is a moment that will be immortalized in Georgia history for all time, and man, we bet when it’s played on the Sanford Stadium jumbotron the roars will be loud and a tear or two might find its way to the bleachers.
