Georgia Bulldogs Countdown to Kickoff: Day 56
There are just 56 days away from Georgia teeing it up at Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta against the Oregon Ducks, and it’s been a wild ride this week.
We’ve touched on the roster, stats, and even big plays that helped to seal the run up to Georgia’s National Championship in 2021.
Today, we’re turning our attention back to the roster and giving some love to those who often get no love — the snapper.
Is it a sexy position? No way.
But is it important? You tell me. Do you want to ball delivered on point each and every time with precision and never have to worry about the punter fumbling around with it?
I’d bet you’ll say yes.
So, today, we’re raising a glass to No. 56 William Mote, Georgia’s snapper on punts in each and every game for the 2021 season.
Mote has been long snapping for the Bulldogs for the past two years, racking up 25 straight starts at the spot where punting is concerned.

A product of Birmingham, Alabama’s Spain Park High School, the 6-foot-2, 230-pound Mote has not only served a key role snapping on punts, but he’s also assisted in coverage on those attempts.
In 2021, he registered a solo tackle and an assist.
What you may not know is that Mote was considered a five-star long-snapping prospect coming out of high school.
Kohl’s Kicking Camps, the authority for both kickers and snappers, offered up the following:
“Mote is someone that needs to be on every colleges recruiting board. He has a great frame and is very athletic. He had his strongest performance yet at the Kohl’s Southern Showcase. He finished the charting portion of camp with an average snap time of .67 seconds. Mote then followed up his strong charting performance by winning the camp wide snapping competition. He won the competition with a .66 second snap time. Recently at the Kohl’s National Scholarship Camp, he was one snap away from winning a spot in the Under Armour All-America Game. Mote has the talent to play for any program in the country and be an asset in blocking or coverage.”
So, stack those five-star wideouts, backs, and pass rushers.
Georgia is also in the market for five-star snappers, and they have one of the best in William Mote.
