Today’s Georgia look back might seem tangential, but stay with us, as we did a roster look at No. 59 Broderick Jones yesterday.

But in 2021, Carson Beck posted 23 pass attempts in four appearances, good for 5.75 attempts per showing.

Round it up, and we’re at 5.8 attempt per appearance in 2021 for the man who may well hold the keys to the quarterback battle in 2023.

A product of and former state champion winning quarterback at Mandarin High School in Jacksonville, Florida, Beck spurned his one-time choice Alabama, in a Jake Fromm fashion, to choose the Bulldogs.

While he’s long been behind Stetson Bennett, JT Daniels, Dwan Mathis, Jamie Newman and the cadre of quarterbacks the Dawgs have had on the depth chart at one point or another, Beck has ridden out his tenure at Georgia waiting for his shot.

Speaking of shots, he took plenty in the Georgia spring game this past April and looked to be a standout performer.

Beck went 13-of-21 for 246 yards, good for a 62-percent completion average, including a straight-out bomb on the back shoulder of Arian Smith.

Now, of course, this was against the No. 2 defense, and Beck still has much to prove, given his 5.8 attempts per game average in 2021.

Still, he could be the guy Georgia fans are trusting it all to in 2023, so game reps should never be considered insignificant, no matter the opponent.

So, here’s to 58 days and the man who could be leading the charge in just a year for the Bulldogs.

Look for that average to increase this season if so.
