Georgia CB Ondre Evans announces 'successful ACL surgery'

Georgia will be down a cornerback for awhile and it could be for the entire 2025 season. Ondre Evans, a redshirt freshman from Nashville, has undergone “successful ACL surgery” per a post to his Instagram story. The recovery timeline for that injury is often at least eight to nine months.
Evans was in crutches when Georgia held it’s annual G-Day spring scrimmage. It is unclear when the knee injury was sustained.
Evans signed with Georgia in the 2024 class. He flipped from LSU to UGA in October of 2023 and shut his recruitment down. After wrapping up his career at Christ Presbyterian Academy in the Music City, Evans made his way to Athens where he participated in preparations for the Orange Bowl.
He went through spring practice but when the fall rolled around, Evans wasn’t able to see any action. He was able to take a redshirt. Evans was likely outside of the Bulldogs two-deep depth chart at cornerback. They brought back 2024 starters Daylen Everette and Daniel Harris, who had a very strong G-Day showing. Fellow 2024 signees Ellis Robinson IV and Demello Jones, both of whom worked with the first and second team defenses on G-Day, also appear to be ahead of him at this time.

As a prospect Evans, was ranked as the nation’s No. 102 overall prospect and No. 13 cornerback per the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that includes all four websites that publish recruiting rankings. The 6-foot-1 195-pound defender was also the No. 2 player in Tennessee.
Georgia will hold workouts for the next couple of weeks before finals take place at the end of April and early May. The players will get the vast majority of May to themselves before coming back together in June for summer workouts. There might be a chance that Evans could join his teammates for those workouts at some point in July but he won’t be cleared for contact until December or January at the earliest.
