Georgia continues trip through the northeast with N.Y. No. 1 player

Kirby Smart is continuing to make his way through the northeast this morning. After a stop in at Avon Old Farms, home of 2024 quarterback commit Ryan Puglisi, he made the short trip over to Long Island’s Holy Trinity Diocesan High School where New York’s No. 1 prospect Josiah Brown plays.
Brown, listed as an athlete at 5-foot-11, 170 pounds, added an offer from Georgia last summer. Penn State, Syracuse, Notre Dame and Rutgers, who holds the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine advantage at this time, are also high on his list.
Brown comes in at No. 208 nationally and No. 28 among athletes according to the On3 Consensus, an equally weighted ranking that is the only to include all four of the major rankings in the industry at 25% each. Other industry composites disproportionately weight their own rating, in some cases greater than 50%. On3 however is higher on him than most as of now, having Brown at No. 50 overall and No. 5 among players at his position (ATH).

Georgia previously landed the No. 1 player in New York under Kirby Smart back in 2017 with five-star offensive tackle Isaiah Wilson out of Brooklyn’s Poly Prep.
Brown is expected to visit Georgia this weekend, the final one before a dead period in the month of February. Georgia’s 2024 class currently ranks No. 2 in the country with the Bulldogs having eight commits on board. Tight end Landen Thomas, the No. 1 player for his position according to the On3 Consensus, leads the way with a couple of defensive backs not far behind him. St. John Bosco safety Peyton Woodyard committed to Georgia on January 7th just days before safety Jaylen Heyward did the same less than a week later on the 13th. Woodyard and Heyward come in at No. 34 and No. 42 overall respectively and are joined by fellow top-50 commits linebacker Demarcus Riddick (No. 43) and wide receiver Ny Carr (No. 49) in the class. Running back Tovani Mizell, quarterback Ryan Puglisi and wide receiver Sacovie White round things out.
