Georgia DL Warren Brinson announces return for 2024
Warren Brinson has come to a decision on what’s next for him and his career in football. The fourth-year Georgia defensive lineman took to social media with a video to announce he’s set to return for 2024 on Saturday night.
Brinson joins a group of Bulldogs returning the includes the likes of quarterback Carson Beck, offensive linemen Tate Ratledge and Xavier Truss, linebacker Smael Mondon and fellow defensive lineman Nazir Stackhouse.
Brinson has been somebody seeing the field since 2020, playing in seven of the team’s 10 games as a true freshman that season. He had an assisted tackle in the opener against Arkansas, was credited with a quarterback pressure in a top-10 win over Auburn and recorded stats against Kentucky and Missouri as well.
The next season saw even more of the Savannah, Ga. native in action, playing in 12 of 15 games as a reserve defensive lineman behind a group that featured four first round picks. Once again, his stats weren’t incredible, but his impact was obvious, making nine tackles including two for loss with a sack.
In 2022, Brinson played in all 15 games for Georgia on the Bulldogs’ way to a second straight National Championship. He put up a then-career-high four tackles in a come from behind win on the road at Missouri and recorded a sack in a victory over the Tennessee Volunteers, ranked No. 1 in the country at the time.

Brinson’s 2023 campaign saw him once again make an impact when on the field. While he missed one game and was limited in another due to a calf strain, Brinson’s presence was felt as potentially the Bulldogs’ best defensive lineman. Starting three games, he totaled his best statistics on a season with 19 tackles including 13 solo stops, three tackles for loss and two sacks. Not only did he play well, but Brinson finished the season strong with a career-high six tackles in the regular season finale against Georgia Tech and a sack in the SEC Championship Game against Alabama. He also had a stop behind the line of scrimmage in the win over the Yellow Jackets to secure the Governor’s Cup.
More on Georgia and the draft…
Georgia has led the country in NFL Draft selections over the last three seasons with 34 in total. The Bulldogs also rank first over the last five with 48, boosted in large part due to the modern-era NFL Draft record 15 players that were picked in 2022 off of Georgia’s national championship-winning squad. Last year, UGA tied for the nation-high with 10 players picked.
In total, the Kirby Smart era at Georgia has seen 55 selections. You have to go all the way back to 1992 to find the last time at least one Bulldog was not taken in an NFL Draft. Georgia has had a player picked in the first round every year since 2018. That list includes Roquan Smith, Isaiah Wynn, Sony Michel, Deandre Baker, Andrew Thomas, Isaiah Wilson, Eric Stokes, Travon Walker, Jordan Davis, Quay Walker, Devonte Wyatt, Lewis Cine, Jalen Carter, Broderick Jones and Nolan Smith.
