ATHENS, Ga. — Another day, another win for Georgia Basketball. The Bulldogs dominated Alabama A&M Tuesday night at Stegeman Coliseum, more than doubling up the opponent winning and 93-45.

The 48-point win is Georgia’s largest under the direction of Mike White and ninth-largest in program history. The last win that was larger came in 2006 when the Bulldogs beat Southern 97-37.

UGA is off to a 5-0 start for the second time since its last NCAA Tournament win in 2002. The other time came in 2020-21 during the COVID season when the Bulldogs went unbeaten in non-conference play.

It was a bit of a slow start for the Bulldogs, trailing 8-7 at the first media timeout. An 11-0 UGA run changed that in a heartbeat, and before the next stoppage in play, Georgia found itself ahead by nine.

Tyrin Lawrence, Dakota Leffew and Savo Drezgic all made 3-pointers as eight different Dawgs got on the scoreboard in the first half led by Silas Demary, who had 10 before the break. Asa Newell and Blue Cain got going in the second half with Cain making three 3-pointers and Newell finishing with a team-high 17 points on 7-of-8 shooting. Demary, Lawrence and Somto Cyril also reached double-figures with 15, 12 and 11 respectively.

Georgia shot above 50% from the field for the second time in three games, out-rebounded Alabama A&M 47-22 and held an advantage over the visiting Bulldogs in blocks (7), steals (16) and assists (18) as well. One thing coach Mike White certainly will want cleaned up before Georgia’s next time out would be the turnovers with UGA committing 16.

The Bulldogs are back in action with a trip to the Bahamas this weekend and a couple of games against top-25 competition. Marquette comes in at No. 15 while St. John’s is No. 22 per the AP Poll. Both games are set for an early 11:00 a.m. ET tip on Saturday against the Golden Eagles (TV: FloHoops) and Sunday against the Red Storm (TV: CBS Sports Network).
