Georgia enters stretch of ranked matchups atop AP Poll
Georgia stayed at No. 1 in the newly announced Week 10 AP Poll on Sunday. Coming off of a 43-20 win over Florida on Saturday, the Bulldogs increased their point total, and lead over No. 2 Michigan, with 1,553 points including 48 first-place votes. That first-place vote total is up 10 from last week.
Kirby Smart’s squad has been atop the poll the entirety of the season, and the streak of 20 straight dates back to last October. Since the start of the 2021 season, Georgia has been the No. 1 team in 32 of the possible 42 polls.
The top-5 is unchanged since last week. Georgia leads the way with Michigan, Ohio State, Florida State and Washington rounding things out. Along with the Bulldogs’ 48 votes, the Wolverines (9), Buckeyes (3) and Seminoles (3) also received love for the top spot.
Oregon is up two spots to No. 6 after a dominant win over Utah while Oklahoma drops four positions to No. 10 with Texas, Alabama and Penn State in between the two teams.

As things stand, Georgia’s next three opponents are all ranked. Missouri comes in at No. 14, three spots behind Ole Miss at No. 11. Georgia gets both of them at home over the next two weeks. Then, it’s on the road for the Bulldogs as they round out SEC play with Tennessee. The Volunteers are ranked No. 19 by the AP.
“It’s going to be a big one next week,” Georgia head coach Kirby Smart said looking ahead to Missouri. “That’s a really good team, I’ve always said they’re extremely physical, big, tough. Eli does an incredible job on offense. Nobody is playing better on offense right now in the country than they are with their quarterback. We looked at them during the off week. We took a day and said, ‘Hey, we’re going to look at these guys before we move to Florida,’ and they’re good. They’ll be well rested coming into our place.”
Kickoff time for this Saturday against Missouri is set for 3:30 p.m. ET on CBS. The top spot in the SEC East is on the line with the winner having the inside track to the SEC Championship Game. With a win over the Tigers, Georgia would put itself in a position to clinch the division the next week against Ole Miss. Missouri on the other hand has a trio of SEC games after its matchup with Georgia meaning they’d have a little more work to do.
