Georgia escapes Jacksonville with 34-20 win over Florida
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Another sloppy Georgia performance yielded yet another too-close-for-comfort win on Saturday as Georgia took down Florida 34-0. Carson Beck threw three interceptions and the Bulldogs trailed by seven at the half, but one late drive from the offense and a turnover put the game on ice.
Beck completed 25 of 40 passes for 309 yards, two touchdowns, and the three turnovers. With Trevor Etienne exiting the game in the first half, Nate Frazier carried the load with 19 carries for 82 yards and a touchdown.
Georgia got the scoring started on its second possession of the game, getting it to the Florida six-yard line before stalling out. Peyton Woodring to hit a short field goal and gave the Bulldogs a 3-0 lead.
Florida, however, would score the next 10 points thanks in large part to a couple of interceptions from Beck. He threw it to the wrong team on consecutive drives, and the Gators used the field position to put up points each time.
That lead shrunk to just four points before with under two minutes left in the half when Woodring hit a 53-yard field goal with 43 seconds left in the half. Florida responded with its own 53-yard field goal with just three seconds in the half and the break came with the Bulldogs trailing 13-6.
While the Gator offense struggled to get going without DJ Lagway, who left the game with a hamstring injury, the Bulldogs offense was able to get something going. It tied the game in the third quarter on a two-yard touchdown run from Nate Frazier.
Georgia grabbed the lead after the Gators mishandled a long field goal try that was eventually recovered in Florida territory. The Bulldogs needed just three plays to go 36 yards with Beck finding Cash Jones for a 22-yard touchdown to make the score 20-13.

Florida did not go quietly, however. The Gators got the ball near midfield after Georgia went three and out deep in its own territory and put together a touchdown drive to tie the game at 20 with seven and a half minutes left.
Beck and company responded with their best showing of the day. They took it 75 yards on seven plays with Beck finding Dominick Lovett for a 10-yard touchdown to convert the second third down of the drive. The Bulldogs took a 27-20 lead after Woodring’s PAT.
The defense stepped up quickly when Florida got the ball back as CJ Allen brought down an incredible leaping interception at the Florida 22-yard line. He took it eight yards to the Gator 14 and a tripping penalty on UF moved it to the seven-yard line. Georgia scored two plays later to put the game away as Dwight Phillips took the handoff around right end. Woodring’s PAT capped off the scoring at 34-20.
Next up for Georgia is a trip west to Oxford, Mississippi. The Bulldogs and Rebels will tee it up on November 9 at 3:30 p.m. ET on ABC.
