Georgia has taken a big tumble in the US LBM/USA Today coaches poll after losing to Ole Miss on Saturday. The Bulldogs are now No. 10 after being No. 2 last week. The Rebels, despite dominating the Bulldogs, are ranked No. 11.

Oregon is No. 1 with Ohio State and Texas rounding out the top three, in that order. Tennessee and Penn State complete the top five followed by Penn State, Indiana, Notre Dame, BYU, and Alabama is No. 9.

The Bulldogs trailed the Rebels by two scores for a large portion of the game and the lead was extended to three scores due to a couple of late turnovers. Georgia jumped out to an early 7-0 lead thanks to a Jaxon Dart interception but it was all Ole Miss after that. Lane Kiffin’s crew went on a 28-3 rampage to get right back into the College Football Playoff discussion.

UGA has two regular-season losses for the first time since November of 2020. That’s when it fell to Florida to lose control of it’s SEC Eastern Division destiny. It marks just the third time in Kirby Smart‘s nine years at Georgia that the Bulldogs have lost more than one regular-season game. One of those was 2016, his first season in Athens.

“Yeah, first off, a lot of credit to Ole Miss, great atmosphere,” Smart said after the loss. “They played a really good game, I thought Lane had his team ready to play. We obviously struggled in a lot of areas. We had miscues, mistakes, penalties, things that are really hard to overcome, especially when you play a really good football team, and they are.”

Georgia gets a chance to bounce right back, though. The Bulldogs will play host to No. 4 Tennessee on Saturday and it’s their first home game in a month. It’s also just their fourth home game of the season. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET on ABC.
