Georgia flips four-star WR Anthony Evans from Oklahoma
Georgia is back on the board in 2023, flipping four-star wide receiver Anthony Evans of Converse, Texas’ Judson High School from the Oklahoma Sooners today.
Evans becomes twenty-second commitment of the class for Georgia.
It’s a relationship that’s long been building, with the Dawgs narrowly missing out to the Sooners in late August.
A visit for Georgia’s win over Tennessee ultimately helped to seal the deal.
“It’s a dream come true, honestly. My mom is from Savannah and is a die-hard Dawg fan for as long as I can remember,” Evans told DawgsHQ after receiving his offer from the Bulldogs. “Not many kids from San Antonio get these kinds of opportunities, and I’m truly ecstatic. I was there with my mom. It was unbelievable being able to see Sanford Stadium in person instead of TV. I toured the facility and watched the scrimmage with Quincy Carter.”
The former Georgia quarterback gave a strong message that Evans ended up following, as well.
“What he’s said has been pretty simple — ‘It’s a place like no other and come be a Dawg,’” Evans said.
Carter, who’s worked in training the speedster, spoke highly of Evans’ game at that time, as well.
“It’s hard for me to associate Champ Bailey’s name with someone else. That’s tough for me, because I played with Champ. I’ve seen both of their speeds, too, though,” Carter told DawgsHQ. “I don’t know who’d win in a foot race, but even me questioning that tells you how much talent he’s got.”
There’s more to Anthony Evans than just his speed, though
“He’s a technician. He’s a route running machine, and he can stop on a dime for you,” Carter said. “He’s tearing up these four and five-star guys at these camps. He’s running by them like they’re not standing there.”

Much credit is certainly deserved to the efforts of the staff in Athens, as the group went out of their way to build the bond with the Lone Star State-based wideout.
“My relationship with Coach McClendon has been great and to be honest, it probably doesn’t get much better,” Evans told Sam Spiegelman ahead of the decision. “They hit me up every day. Coach Kirby (Smart) hit me up an hour ago. Coach (Todd) Monken is a great dude and we talk all the time. I spoke to him yesterday (Saturday). The relationships with those guys, that’s what’s huge for them.”
And during the official visit, the Dawgs were able to quell any concerns about how their offense operates.
“I had that mindset that a lot of people had told me that how much they don’t throw the ball. It was one of those things they pushed on me a lot,” he said. “They just put the facts on me and get rid of all of those false opinions and tell me how it wasn’t true. They told me straight up I could come in and make an immediate impact. It’s one of those things I’m looking into.”
Anthony Evans is the nation’s No. 259 overall prospect per the On3 Consensus.
