Georgia flips On3 four-star OL Jamal Meriweather from UCF
Flip season is here, and Georgia is already reaping rewards, as the Bulldogs reeled in the commitment of three-star offensive lineman Jamal Meriweather today.
An almost 6-foot-7, 261-pound offensive tackle from Brunswick, Georgia’s Brunswick High School, Meriweather was previously committed to Guz Malzahn and the University of Central Florida Golden Knights.
He announced his commitment to Central Florida in mid-April of this year, choosing the Golden Knights over offers from the likes of Tennessee, Southern Cal, Mississippi State, and Utah among others.
Meriweather becomes Georgia’s fifth offensive line commit of the Class of 2023, joining Monroe Freeling, Bo Hughley, Kelton Smith, and Joshua Miller.
The nation’s No. 747 overall prospect in the cycle per the On3 Consensus, Meriweather is also ranked as the No. 47 offensive tackle and No. 70 prospect in Georgia per the metric, which equally weighs rankings from all four major recruiting services.
On3, however, ranks him much higher than the rest of the industry in its On300 rankings.
There, Meriweather stacks up as the nation’s No. 252 overall prospect, No. 17 offensive tackle, and No. 24 player in Georgia for 2023.
Georgia currently sits at the nation’s No. 2 overall recruiting class in the Class of 2023.
Meriweather in the twenty-third commitment of the cycle for the Bulldogs, and the second this week, joining Consensus five-star EDGE Samuel M’Pemba.
Georgia lands M’Pemba on Sunday afternoon
Speaking of M’Pemba, the coveted pass rusher was among Georgia’s biggest recruiting wins of this cycle, choosing the Dawgs over the likes of Florida, Miami, and Tennessee.

On3’s Chad Simmons caught up with M’Pemba for his thoughts on the decision to take his talents to Athens.
“I feel like they’re definitely developing into the best program in the country,” M’Pemba told Simmons.
That’s based on several in-person impressions.
“I feel like Georgia’s got a great development staff. The players I’ll be playing, they all got same mentality, just want to be better,” M’Pemba said. “We all want to have the same dreams accomplished.”
Attention now turns toward Damon Wilson
The Bulldogs weren’t expecting any other news this week before Meriweather’s surprising decision, but their sights are now firmly set on a potential upcoming announcement from On3’s No. 4 prospect, Damon Wilson.
“I feel like I’ve made my decision,” Wilson told On3 on Sunday.
While Ohio State and Georgia have long been battling, it appears the Bulldogs may be taking steps forward.
“I’ve been hinting for a couple of weeks that I like where Georgia is at, even though the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine was trending toward the Buckeyes. I still feel confident that Georgia is probably the team to beat,” Chad Simmons said on Monday.
