Georgia football announces dates for spring practice, Pro Day, and G-Day

Georgia has announced when it will start spring practice, when it will conduct Pro Day, and when the annual G-Day spring scrimmage will take place. The dates had already been assumed based on program’s track record under Kirby Smart and prior, but now it is official.
The Bulldogs will kick off spring drills on Tuesday, March 11. It will hold a media day where Kirby Smart will speak to the UGA beat for the first time since January. Georgia will hold it’s Pro Day 24 hours later on March 12. That’ll take place inside the “House of Payne” indoor facility.
The annual G-Day spring scrimmage will take place on Saturday, April 12. Time and television have not yet been announced for the spring game. Spring games have been a hot topic this winter with Florida State, Nebraska, Texas, and USC all cancelling theres, but that is not in the plans right now at Georgia.
“We haven’t had any discussions,” Georgia athletics director Josh Brooks said on Tuesday. “We’re still full-planning on G-Day this year. You know, you’ve got to take it year to year on things like that. I can say one thing I appreciate about Coach Smart is that he understands the value of the game, and it is an opportunity for some of our fans to come see what the players and they may or may have season tickets,” Brooks said. “It’s always been a special day, and I thi’nk it’s in the plans for this year. As everything goes, you take it day by day, month by month, year by year.”

The University of Georgia begins spring break at the end of classes today and the team will come back together next weekend for a team run on Sunday. Spring practice will start the following Tuesday and if the Bulldogs hold true to what they’ve done in the past, they’ll practice every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.
Spring practice lasts five weeks where there are 12 practices and three scrimmages. In the past, Georgia has usually started scrimmaging on the third Saturday. The Bulldogs will hold two closed scrimmages before letting the fans watch on April 12.
