Ask Rusty: Georgia football and recruiting scoop ahead of Florida
It’s almost time for the 103rd playing of The World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party. Georgia is going for its fourth straight win over Florida and it is favored by three scores. The Bulldogs are ranked No. 2 in the country coming off the bye week and it has all goals in front.
The Gators have won three of their last four and have a little momentum heading into Jacksonville. Billy Napier was on the hottest of hot seats early in the year but now, he’s got a chance to save his job. Snapping Georgia’s win streak would go a long way toward making that happen.
“I think they’re playing their best football,” Kirby Smart said of Florida earlier this week. I think they have a really, really good roster. A lot of players we’ve recruited and recruited against them. But they’re playing their best football and obviously a talented group. Really a lot of great size across the front on the offensive and defensive lines. I think Billy (Napier) knows that’s where the key is in the SEC in terms of length and size. They play a lot of players on defense. They’ve had a lot of guys play up front. But the three losses have come to three teams that are ranked in the top 10 — at least I think they are. I don’t even know. But they’re really good teams, and they play those teams well.

Meanwhile, Smart and company are also trying to finish off another big, talented recruiting class. Georgia is ranked No. 3 in the On3 Industry Team Rankings with a chance to climb. There are some needle-movers left on the board for the Bulldogs.
