Make it six straight for Georgia in The Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry. The Bulldogs held a 14-0 lead over Auburn at halftime and scored four touchdowns in the second half to run away with a 42-10 victory.

You’ve heard the saying that good teams win and great teams cover. Well, those who took Georgia and laid the points are counting their money today because the Bulldogs covered the four-score spread. They needed some standout performances to make that happen and DawgHQ acknowledges those below by handing out game balls.

RB Daijun Edwards: Georgia fans have to be falling more and more in love with this guy with each passing week. Edwards was tremendous again on Saturday, scoring three rushing touchdowns. He had a fourth, which would have been a receiving score, called back because of a penalty. He carried the football 12 times for 83 yards on the day.

ILB Rian Davis: The Bulldogs were without their No. 2 and No. 3 inside linebackers in Smael Mondon and Trezmen Marshall, so Davis had to step in. He also stepped up. Davis set a career-high for snaps played in the game. He showed great instincts and energy while racking up four total tackles and two solo stops, placing him second on the team.

RB Branson Robinson: Edwards wasn’t Georgia’s leading rusher. Robinson earned that distinction with his most productive game as a Bulldog. In fact, he came up six feet short of becoming the first Georgia 100-yard rusher of the season. The freshman tailback needed just 12 carries to pile up 98 yards on the ground and he also reached the end zone for the first time in his career.

OLB Nolan Smith: Auburn’s best chance to hang around in this game was converting a fake punt in the second quarter. The Tigers had it blocked well enough to potentially get a first down but Smith beat a block and made the play short of the sticks. That was massive because it gave the offense a very short field, resulting in the first Georgia touchdown of the day. Smith went on to rack up three tackles, all solo, and a tackle for loss.

WR Ladd McConkey: All is well that ends well, right? That applies to McConkey’s day because he narrowly avoided a big-time mistake in the first quarter when he muffed a punt. He was able to get back on the football and proceeded to play a big role in the Georgia victory. His 38-yard punt return set up the second Georgia touchdown of the day. He also caught five passes for 47 yards. Two of those catches and 35 of those yards came on the drive where Georgia took a 21-3 lead in the third quarter.

ILB Jamon Dumas-Johnson: The sophomore tackling machine seemed like he was on the field for every defensive snap. That wasn’t the case but he played a ton. He also led the team in tackles with five total and three solo. It won’t show up on the stat sheet but Dumas-Johnson played a huge role in a number of Auburn quarterback Robby Ashford’s throwaways because of the way he flew downhill.
