Georgia now the favorite to win National Championship per one sportsbook
When the College Football season started a few weeks ago, Georgia was seen by most sportsbooks as No. 2 or even No. 3 when it came to National Championship odds. FanDuel has seen enough in the first two weeks to elevate the Bulldogs to No. 1.
Georgia is now +180 to repeat as kings of the College Football hill. Alabama is second at +200 followed by Ohio State at +300. Clemson is +1,000, USC is +1,400, and Michigan is +2000. Each of those odds means that a person can bet $100 to win the amount listed for each team.
The Associated Press seems to agree with FanDuel. In its latest top-25 poll, it moved Georgia to No. 1 overall. The Bulldogs still sit at No. 2 in the USAToday coaches’ poll.
“It’s never a big deal. It only matters at the end of the year,” Georgia head coach Kirby Smart said regarding the team’s No. 1 AP ranking. “I mean, I don’t know that we’ve spent many weeks outside of the top 10 and it never mattered whether we were inside the top 10 or outside of the top 10. It just is irrelevant. I mean, it’s a lot more — a lot more worried about how we execute a combo block than I am worried about what we’re ranked. And hopefully the kids are the same way.”
While this year’s team has some new faces, the UGA program is familiar with these types of expectations. The Bulldogs were ranked No. 1 for most of last season and that includes the College Football Playoff rankings.

They jumped to to the top spot in the AP and coaches’ polls in Week 7 of the 2021 season and held strong until losing to Alabama in the SEC Championship game. Redshirt sophomore center Sedrick Van Pran was around for that.
“Personally, I don’t want to get into that and I want to stress to the guys to not get into that as well,” Sedrick Van Pran said. “That’s something that changes every week. One week we may be No. 1, it may change the next week. So for us, it’s about making sure that we uphold the Georgia standard and making sure that we play the way we need to to win games. I think that’s the bottom line. I really don’t want to get caught up in the whole No. 1 ranking because at the end of the day, it really doesn’t matter.”
Georgia is 2-0 on the young season by a combined score of 82-3. It took down Oregon 49-3 in the season opener and beat Samford 33-0 in week two. The Bulldogs open up SEC play on Saturday with a trip to South Carolina. Kickoff is set for 12 p.m. ET on ESPN.
