WATCH: Junior highlights for new Georgia DL pledge Nnamdi Ogboko
Georgia is up to 21 commitments in the 2023 class after landing North Garner (Garner, N.C.) defensive lineman Nnamdi Ogboko. The three-star prospect chose the Bulldogs over offers from Florida, N.C. State, South Carolina and a myriad of other schools.
While he’s not highly rated at this point, Ogboko fills a massive need for Georgia in this class. At 6-foot-4 340 pounds with 34-inch arms, he gives Tray Scott a two-gap nose guard. The Bulldogs have had success recruiting big defensive linemen out of the Tar Heel State in the past. Jordan Davis, a first round pick of the Philadelphia Eagles in 2023, and current true freshman Jamaal Jarrett stand out.
His junior film shows a glimpse into why Georgia went after him.
Ogboko is new to the game…
Unlike most prospects, Ogboko is earning scholarship offers without having been committed to the game for most of his life. In fact, he first started playing football about a year ago.
“He’s new to the game as he just started playing in June of 2022, but over the last twelve months, he’s developed violent hands and a better understanding of his own strength,” South Garner head coach Greg Greene said. “He’s a true anchor in every since of the word. He’s got a wide base with good footwork from a background in basketball. He eats and splits double teams really well. I look forward to seeing him progress into someone that can do it at the SEC, Tray Scott, Kirby Smart level.”

Ogboko is the third defensive line commitment in the 2024 class for Georgia. It joins four-star prospect Justin Greene (Georgia) and Jordan Thomas (New Jersey). The Bulldogs are looking to take at least five defensive linemen in the current class and maybe as many as six after netting just four in the past two classes.
Tray Scott has landed six defensive linemen in the past two cycles but had two of his 2022 signees, Bear Alexander and Shone Washington, transfer this spring.
