The On3Sports position rankings continue to roll on and thus far Georgia is the only team in the country to rank inside the top 10 in every group covered. That held true against on Wednesday as Jesse Simonton released his cornerback rankings. The Bulldogs sit at No. 2 behind Alabama.

UGA is followed by Iowa at No. 3, Michigan at No. 4, and Penn State at No. 5. The second half of the top 10 consists of Notre Dame, TCU, Ohio State, LSU, and Texas A&M — in that order.

“The Bulldogs must replace a two-year starter in Keele Ringo, but they have a cadre of former top recruits vying for the CB2 job opposite of junior Kamari Lassiter, a potential fringe 1st Round pick. Daylen EveretteJulian Humphrey and Nyland Green are all battling for that second cornerback spot. They also have 4-star freshman AJ Harris waiting in the wings.

Georgia returns the best nickel/STAR in the country in Javon Bullard, who may also spend time at safety in 2023. The junior was a playmaking machine for the Bulldogs last season, earning Player of the Game honors in the Semifinal and National Championship. He finished the season with close to 50 tackles, two picks, seven TFLs and 3.5 sacks.

“The Bulldogs were so deep at CB that former 5-star signee Jaheim Singletary transferred to Arkansas this offseason.”

One contender not mentioned her is Texas A&M transfer and Bainbridge, Ga. native Deyon “Smoke” Bouie. He enrolled at Georgia in January and spent the spring working at cornerback. He will compete for the job opposite of Lassiter as well.

Green and Lassiter got the first-team nods in the G-Day spring scrimmage with Humphrey also spending the first half with the first team. Everette got some work with the ones in the second half.

The Bulldogs are loaded at cornerback due in no small part to the recent history at the position. Since Kirby Smart has taken over at UGA the Bulldogs have had three cornerbacks, Deandre Baker, Eric Stokes, and Tyson Campbell, taken inside the top 33 overall picks of the NFL Draft. They had Ringo go in the fourth round of the 2023 NFL Draft.

Thus far Simonton has covered quarterbacks, running backs, receivers, tight ends, offensive line, defensive line/edge, and linebacker. The Bulldogs have ranked inside the top 10 in every one of those and they haven’t been placed outside of the top two at any of the defensive groups.

Georgia is ranked No. 1 at tight end, offensive line, and defensive line. It is ranked No. 2 at both linebacker and cornerback.
