There’s a lot going on at Georgia right now but that hasn’t stopped the Bulldogs from making sure they know what is going on in the transfer portal. They’ve sent out their second reported offer in as many days. Kent State wide receiver Dante Cephas used Twitter to announce the news.

On one hand, Kent State is a Group of Five program. On the other hand, that Group of Five program played Georgia about as well as anyone this season, coming into Athens and making the Bulldogs at least work for four quarters in a 37-22 victory for the home team.

Cephas had just three catches for 25 yards in that game but he has been nothing short of impressive the past two seasons. He caught 48 passes for 744 yards and three touchdowns this season while missing three full games and being less than 100 percent for at least one more.

The Pittsburgh, Pa. native was even better in 2021, piling up 1,240 yards and nine touchdowns on 82 grabs. Cephas played in three games as a true freshman in 2019, enabling him to take a redshirt. He caught four balls for 19 yards that year with the total moving to 11 grabs for 136 yards in 2020.

Due to the NCAA’s decision to not count the 2020 season against the eligibility of any player in any sport, Cephas has his fifth-year senior and super-senior seasons remaining. He entered the transfer portal along with over 700 other FBS-level players on Monday.

Georgia is currently trying to finish off its No. 2 ranked 2023 recruiting class. It is also getting ready to take on Ohio State in the Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl. That’s the No. 1 vs. No. 4 matchup in the College Football Playoff Semifinal.

Cephas is UGA’s second reported WR already…

Georgia extended an offer to a wideout on Monday as well. The Bulldogs are in pursuit of Mississippi State’s Rara Thomas after his breakout showing in 2022. The Montgomery, Ala. native led the Bulldogs in receiving with 44 grabs for 626 yards and seven scores.

Tennessee, Auburn, Ole Miss, and a host of other schools have also offered Thomas, who plans to take visits in the near future. Georgia is expected to be a major player in his recruitment and, according to Chad Simmons, the Kirby Smart and company could get him on campus within the next two weeks.

DawgsHQ has already reported that UGA is expected to be active in the transfer market this offseason, especially at receiver. We expect the Bulldogs to take at least two at the position and that number could change depending on which players decide to return next season and which ones pursue other opportunities.
