Georgia Football: Dawgs in the NFL (Week 8)
Just a day after Georgia’s 42-20 victory over the Gators in Jacksonville, the Bulldogs in the NFL put on a clinic, especially on the defensive side of the ball. While Nick Chubb and the Cleveland Browns are slated to play tonight against the Cincinnati Bengals, various other Bulldog alumnus gave us plenty to check out this past weekend.
Matthew Stafford
While Stafford certainly did not play a perfect game, only throwing for 187 yards on 33 attempts, the former Georgia quarterback showed off his wheels on this one-yard touchdown score earlier in the game. The Los Angeles Rams would go on to lose to the San Francisco 49ers, 31-14.
Lorenzo Carter
If you watched this game between the Atlanta Falcons and Carolina Panthers, then you’d probably even forget this play occurred based on how crazy the end of the game was. Regardless, Carter probably made one of the best defensive plays of the entire day in the NFL on this huge pick-six off of Panthers quarterback PJ Walker.
Even before the game began, Carter and the Falcons gave a quick shout out to the Bulldogs following their victory over the Gators.
D’Andre Swift
In his first game back after missing the last few weeks, Lions running back D’Andre Swift used a nasty cut against the Dolphins linebacker in order to get into the endzone early in the game. Unfortunately, Swift was only able to manage 33 yards on 10 touches throughout the contest.
Leonard Floyd
Coming into this game with zero sacks on the season, Floyd left Sunday’s contest with two sacks against 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garrapolo. While he may have gotten a little bit of Garrapolo’s facemask on one of them, that does not take away from the fact that Floyd was bodying right tackle Mike McGlinchy throughout the game.
Tyson Campbell
Former Georgia cornerback Tyson Campbell made an early impression in London, picking off Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson on their first drive of the game. Campbell continues to play very well for the Jaguars defense, drawing attention from fans around the NFL.

Travon Walker
Although he has not been racking up numbers on the stat sheet, the former No. 1 overall pick continues to make his mark for the Jaguars defense, getting to Russell Wilson late in the third on this stunt rush.
James Cook
James Cook, who has been fighting Devin Singletary for reps in the Buffalo Bills offense, had an impressive showing against the Packers on Sunday Night Football, finishing with five carries for 35 yards as well as one reception for 41 yards. During the second quarter of action, Cook was tackled into the sideline by Quay Walker, who would go on to be ejected from the contest after shoving a Bills coach on the sideline.
Isaiah McKenzie
Former Georgia wide receiver Isaiah McKenzie also joined in on the action, scoring this eight-yard rushing touchdown to help extend the Bills’ lead to 14. Buffalo would go on to win the game 27-17.
Justin Houston
Last but certainly not least, we’ve got to talk about Justin Houston, the 33-year old pass rusher that is doing incredible things for the Baltimore Ravens defense. With two sacks on Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady last Thursday, Houston is currently on pace to be the first Ravens player to reach double-digit sacks since Terrell Suggs in 2017.
