Georgia freshman report: 12 first-year Bulldogs played vs. MSU

Georgia grabbed a big road victory and clinched a spot in the SEC Championship game on Saturday. The Bulldogs thumped Mississippi State 45-19 despite making a number of mistakes that made the game closer than it should have been.
Georgia has now won 12 straight games and 25 straight regular season games. The 26-point margin of victory allowed Georgia to dig into the bench a bit and 12 true freshmen saw action in the game. Below, DawgsHQ provides you a list of the first-year players who got into the game and we tell you how they faired.
RB Branson Robinson (4 snaps): It wasn’t a big showing for Robinson, who had just two carries. He used those carries to pick up two yards.
WR Dillon Bell (22 snaps): Bell played quite a bit but only saw one target. He caught that pass for a modest one-yard gain.
WR De’Nylon Morrissette (special teams): The former four-star prospect appeared on the participation chart but did not register and offensive snap. He likely saw action on special teams.
TE Oscar Delp (2 snaps): The freshman tight end saw some action with the offense but not a ton. He wasn’t targeted in the game.
DE Mykel Williams (31 snaps): The talented freshman got a lot of run on Saturday and did a nice job of affecting the quarterback. He was credited with two quarterback hurries and he added a pair of tackles.
DL Bear Alexander (11 snaps): The Texas native got into the game fairly late but he flashed right away. He had a tackle and a couple of rushes where he affected the quarterback.

OLB Marvin Jones Jr. (3 snaps): Jones registered one total tackle in the game. We’re not sure when he saw action.
ILB Jalon Walker (10 snaps): After playing just one snap last week, Walker got more run in this one. He did not register a tackle.
S Malaki Starks (64 snaps): Starks finished the game tied for the team lead in tackles. He had eight total and five solo stops. He played well against an offense that loves to victimize safeties.
S JaCorey Thomas (7 snaps): The Sunshine State native got some valuable playing time on Saturday. Georgia is shorthanded at safety with Dan Jackson’s injury and Thomas was able to add to his experience.
CB Daylen Everette (7 snaps): He only played on snap last week but Everette continues to get a few snaps here in there for development. He did not register on the stat sheet.
P Brett Thorson (special teams): Thorson had a short punt and another one in the middle of the field that was returned for a touchdown. He also had one that traveled 62 yards and flipped the field. Overall it was a rough day but there was a bright spot.
