Georgia freshman report: 12 first-year Bulldogs played vs. Florida
Georgia took down Florida 42-20 on Saturday, earning its fifth win in the neutral-site rivalry in the last six games. The Bulldogs jumped out to a 28-3 lead before the half. After an ugly third quarter, Georgia scored the final 14 points of the game to run away with it.
It was the first Cocktail Party experience for a number of Georgia players. Below, DawgsHQ lists the true freshmen who played, how much, and how they fared.
RB Branson Robinson (12 snaps): Most of the young tailback’s action came late in the game. He had nine carries for 39 yards as he tried to help Georgia salt the game away. His longest carry was 15 yards.
WR Dillon Bell (30 snaps): Bell played quite a bit but he only had a couple of catches. One of those took Georgia to the one-yard line on its second possession and what followed was a Kenny McIntosh score that gave the Bulldogs a 7-0 lead. He ended up with 19 receiving yards total.
WR De’Nylon Morrissette (4 snaps): The former four-star prospect got a couple of crunch-time snaps and a couple more in mop up duty. He did not catch a pass.
WR Cole Speer (special teams): The Calhoun High School product played in his fifth game of the 2022 season, burning a redshirt. All of his snaps were on special teams.
TE Oscar Delp (5 snaps): It seemed like Delp was in the game more but the unofficial count is five snaps. He did not catch a pass.
DE Mykel Williams (17 snaps): The former five-star prospect had a productive day. He tallied three total tackles, his second sack of the year, and his second tackle for loss of the season.

DL Bear Alexander (6 snaps): Jalen Carter’s return meant fewer snaps for Alexander. But he was in the game on fourth down and hit Florida quarterback Anthony Richardson late after a play was blown dead with four yards to go. He had two total tackles.
OLB Darris Smith (special teams): Georgia used Smith’s length and speed on special teams but he was injured early in the second half. He was struck high while covering a kickoff and had to be helped off the field.
ILB Jalon Walker (10 snaps): The young linebacker continues to get reps in UGA’s third-down package as an edge rusher. He did not have any stats from the game.
S Malaki Starks (71 snaps): The freshman sensation had a forgettable game. He had a couple of blown assignments that resulted in chunk plays for the Gators. He also had a couple of the Bulldogs’ biggest missed tackles. He finished with five total tackles and a pass breakup.
CB Daylen Everette (7 snaps): Everette saw some mop-up action in the fourth quarter. He had one solo tackle.
P Brett Thorson (special teams): The Australia native punted three times with a long of 46 yards. Two of those were pooch punts that came down inside the Florida 20-yard line.
