STARKVILLE, Miss. — Georgia made its way to Mississippi State on Saturday for the first time in 12 years. It left with a win. The Bulldogs from the SEC East beat up on the Bulldogs from the SEC West to a score of 45-19.

There were plenty Georgia mistakes but there were also just as many big plays that helped secure the victory. Below, DawgsHQ acknowledges the players who made those plays by handing out game balls.

WR Ladd McConkey: It was the second straight stellar performance from McConkey, who went for well over 100 total yards. He had 71 receiving yards and a touchdown on five catches. He also had one run for 70 yards and a touchdown. He’s really close to 700 yards from scrimmage this season and has a shot at 1,000 total. The redshirt sophomore has really bounced back after a shaky showing in October.

DL Jalen Carter: The Bulldogs are elated to have this guy back and healthy. Carter is a one-man wrecking crew any time he’s on the field and he has a lot of good players around him, too. The Georgia junior racked up 7 total tackles (two solo) with a sack, 1.5 tackles for loss, and an additional hit on the quarterback. That’s sacks in back to back weeks for Carter and those go with 3.5 tackles for loss.

TE Darnell Washington: A lot of Bulldogs got involved on Saturday but Washington’s performance really stood out. He was ultra-physical as a blocker and showed a lot of fight in the trenches. He also hauled in five passes for 60 yards and a touchdown. The big tight end picked up 60 percent of those receiving yards after the catch.

ILB Smael Mondon: Georgia has gotten used to great inside linebacker play again this season. It has mostly been another guy on this list but Mondon had a tremendous performance in Starkville. He tied for the team lead in tackles with eight. Five of those were solo stops and he added a tackle for loss, a pass breakup, and multiple quarterback hurries. Mondon’s speed was on full display against the Bulldogs from the SEC West.

QB Stetson Bennett: The sixth-year senior threw two interceptions. You can say that those weren’t really on him and I wouldn’t argue with you but he had at least one more that should have been intercepted but wasn’t. Doesn’t sound like a guy that deserves a game ball until you look at the fact that he had a hand in four Georgia touchdowns. Bennett played really well and wasn’t always put in the best spots from the coaching perspective. He went 25 of 37 passing for 289 yards and three scores. He ran for another score and 14 more yards.

ILB Jamon Dumas-Johnson: A fixture on this list, Dumas-Johnson made more plays on Saturday. He had four total tackles, a half tackle for loss, a quarterback hurry and a pass breakup. He did a lot of dirty work in this game and did a great job of striking blockers.
