Game Balls: Georgia displays all-around dominance vs. Gamecocks
COLUMBIA, S.C. — Georgia took put on a road show on Saturday with a dominant win over South Carolina. The Bulldogs beat the Gamecocks 48-7, scoring touchdowns on their first three possessions of each half.
Kirby Smart spoke after the game about how he and his staff challenged the team to come out fast and attack. That’s exactly what happened inside Williams-Brice Stadium. Georgia needed some standout performances to blow out their SEC Eastern Division foe and below, we point those out by presenting game balls.
TE Brock Bowers: Simply put, Bowers is a cheat code. He scored Georgia’s first touchdown of the day from five yards out on an end around. He also caught five passes for 121 yards and two scores. His 78-yard catch and run for a score in the third quarter was one of the more impressive plays you’ll ever see from a tight end.
ILB Jamon Dumas-Johnson: Georgia’s leading tackler on the day was all over the field. Dumas-Johnson showed a ton of range while racking up six solo stops. He also impacted the game as a blitzer, picking up a couple of quarterback hurries.
QB Stetson Bennett IV: The sixth-year senior didn’t have his best stuff. He missed on a few throws that he would love to have back, but he connected on plenty, too. Bennett completed 70 percent of his passes for 284 yards and two touchdowns. He also had touchdown run from 11 yards out and finished the game as the Bulldogs’ leading rusher.

S Malaki Starks: South Carolina had a chance to get into this game in the first quarter. It connected on a 46-yard pass on its second possession to threaten, but Starks put an end to that. Spencer Rattler dropped back and tried to hit a guy leaking out on a wheel route. Starks snuffed it out, covered it, and picked off the pass. He returned it 42 yards into Gamecock territory. That turnover set up Georgia’s second score.
WR Ladd McConkey: The redshirt sophomore had a consistently productive game. He got involved on UGA’s first drive and stayed involved until the reserves came in. McConkey caught four passes for 52 yards, including a 28-yard grab in the first quarter. He also added 13 yards rushing.
OLB Nolan Smith: There are a few defenders that deserve to be on this list but Smith was just a tad more impactful than most of them. He held the edge really well, not letting the Gamecocks do much on the edge in the run game. Smith added three total tackles, a tackle for loss, a pass breakup, and a couple of quarterback hurries.
ILB Trezmen Marshall: One of the few players who saw action from the first quarter to the end, Marshall had some big plays. He had four solo stops, a tackle for loss, a quarterback hurry, and a fourth-quarter interception that looked as if it might preserve the shutout.
