Game time, television announced for Georgia vs. Kentucky
ATHENS, Ga. — After going the entire 2022 season without an evening kickoff at home, Georgia has already had two in 2023. Add another one to the list as the SEC announced on Monday that the Bulldogs will host Kentucky on October 7 will begin at 7 p.m. The game will be televised by ESPN.
In recent years the matchup between the Bulldogs and Wildcats has been a 3:30 p.m. ET kickoff with SEC Eastern Division implications. That has been the case for games scheduled earlier in the season when it’s played in Athens and later in the season when it’s played in Lexington.
Georgia is 62-12-2 against Kentucky all time. It is currently riding a 13-game win streak with the last loss to the Wildcats coming inside Sanford Stadium in 2009. Georgia has only lost twice to Kentucky since 1996.
Both teams are undefeated thus far in 2023. Georgia is 4-0 after three-straight home wins to begin the year. Three of those game were non-conference — UT-Martin, Ball State, and UAB. The only SEC game was against South Carolina and Georgia beat the Gamecocks 24-14. The Bulldogs travel to Auburn this weekend with kickoff set for 3:30 p.m. ET on CBS.
Kentucky has played three home games thus far in 2023. It hosted Ball State to start the season and then took on Eastern Kentucky and Akron before playing Vanderbilt on the road. The Wildcats will host Florida this Saturday with kickoff set for 12 p.m. ET on ESPN.
Mark Stoops has been the head coach at Kentucky since 2013 where he has amassed a record of 70 and 59. The Wildcats have become one of Georgia’s biggest challengers in the SEC East in recent years despite not being able to break through and make the league title game. The Wildcats are one of three SEC East teams that will remain on UGA’s schedule in 2024 when the league does away with divisions due as Texas and Oklahoma join the conference.
