The 129th playing of The Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry is set for October 5 and we now know when Georgia and Auburn will kick off. The SEC announced on Monday that the game will start at 3:30 p.m. ET and it will be broadcast on ABC.

This rivalry has been owned by the Bulldogs of late with Kirby Smart‘s program winning seven straight. Georgia has beaten Auburn in eight of the nine matchups since Smart became the head coach in 2016 and that includes a perfect record inside the Peach State.

You’d have to jump all the way back to 2005 to find the last time Auburn won inside Sanford Stadium. Since then the Bulldogs have reeled off eight straight wins in Athens and when you count the 2017 SEC Championship games, nine straight wins within the Georgia borders. Six of those eight wins in Athens were by three scores or more.

Conference expansion hasn’t disrupted this rivalry like the last time it grew in 2012. In order to make the schedules work when Texas A&M and Missouri joined the league, the SEC forced Georgia to play two straight seasons at Auburn. The Tigers lost the first of those games in 2012 but a score of 38-0 but the Bulldogs fell the second season in a game that will forever be known by the “Prayer at Jordan-Hare” touchdown catch from Ricardo Louis. Auburn would eventually beat Alabama on the “Kick Six” and went to the National Championship game where it lost to Florida State.

Auburn is off to a rough start in its second season under Hugh Freeze. The Tigers have lost to Cal and Arkansas at home during a stretch of their schedule where many had projected a 4-0 start. They will host Oklahoma this Saturday while the Bulldogs travel to Alabama.
