Game time, television announced for Georgia vs. Georgia Tech
Clean, Old Fashioned Hate is returning to Athens, Ga. in under two weeks. Georgia will play host to Georgia Tech for the first time since 2018 and the SEC announced that the game will kickoff at 12 p.m. ET on ESPN.
The Yellow Jackets didn’t play at Georgia in 2020 due to the SEC’s decision to go with conference-only schedules. The ACC’s rules that season would have allowed the rivalry to be played since it allowed its member institutions to play one non-conference game. All of that, of course, was due to the spread of COVID-19.
Georgia Tech is led by interim head coach Brent Key, who took over for Geoff Collins after a 1-3 start. The Yellow Jackets have gone 3-3 under Key with wins over Pitt, Duke, and Virginia Tech. They lost 35-14 to Miami the last time out.
Georgia is ranked No. 1 in all three polls. The Bulldogs grabbed the top spot of the College Football Playoff Rankings after a 27-13 bullying of Tennessee a little over a week ago. The Bulldogs won at Mississippi State on Saturday by a score of 45-19.
The Bulldogs have dominated this series since 2000. Since Georgia snapped a three-game win streak in 2001, Mark Richt’s first season, it has been on the losing end of this game just three times in 20 games. Those wins all came in Athens — 2008, 2014, and 2016.

Kirby Smart was the head coach for that 2016 loss to Georgia Tech. His Georgia team has taken Tech behind the woodshed in each of the four games since. The Bulldogs have won those games by a combined score of 180-35. They earned a 45-0 win at Bobby Dodd Stadium a year ago.
“It’s awesome. It’s great for the kids,” Smart said after that game when asked about the shutout. “There’s so many guys from Atlanta. I think it’s good for recruiting. Our recruits, they text and say, ‘man, look at all the Georgia fans that have taken over the stadium.’ A lot of my friends are like, it’s convenient, you know? They live in Atlanta. They get to come to the game and watch the Dawgs play in Atlanta and I know that atmosphere was great. Seemed like the weather was great.”
Georgia Tech will play at North Carolina on November 19. Kickoff for that game is set for 5:30 p.m. ET. Georgia will travel to Kentucky for a game on that same date. The Bulldogs and Wildcats are slated for a 3:30 p.m. kickoff on CBS. UGA is currently the 22.5-point favorite.
The Bulldogs need wins over Kentucky and Georgia Tech to go undefeated in the regular season for the second time in as many seasons. With this being the conclusions of UGA’s 2022 home schedule, it means that the Bulldogs did not get to host a night game this season.
