Georgia and Texas are set for what will almost certainly be a top five clash in Austin on October 19 and it’ll take place under the lights. The SEC announced Monday that kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET and the game will be televised by ABC.

Texas is currently 5-0 on the season and ranked No. 1 in the nation. Georgia is ranked No. 5 in the nation’ with a 4-1 record. That loss came at Alabama nine days ago and was the Bulldogs first regular-season loss since 2020.

This is the first time the two teams have played since January 1, 2019. The Bulldogs and Longhorns squared off in the Allstate Sugar Bowl with Texas winning 28-21 under then-head coach Tom Herman. The program is now led by former USC head coach Steve Sarkisian.

The Longhorns are 4-1 against Georgia all time. In addition to that win over UGA in 2019, Texas prevailed in three matchups between the two teams prior to 1960. One of those games was the 1949 Orange Bowl. The two teams also played in 1957 in Atlanta and in 1958 in Austin. Georgia’s lone win came in the 1984 Cotton Bowl.

Texas has arch rival Oklahoma coming up this weekend in the Red River Shootout/Rivalry. The Longhorns are heavily favored but they also dropped this game last season before eventually making the four-team College Football Playoff. That game will be played in Dallas.

Georgia is set to host Mississippi State, 1-4 team that challenged Texas a couple of weekends ago. The Longhorns did not have starting quarterback Quinn Ewers, who is expected back for Georgia.
