Georgia football set to hire Peach State native Bryson Allen-Williams to analyst role
Bryson Allen-Williams has never played or coached at the University of Georgia but he’s coming back to home to the Peach State to continue his coaching career. DawgsHQ has learned that the Cedar Grove High School product is leaving his defensive analyst post at Southern Cal for a similar position in Athens.
Allen-Williams has worked at USC for the past two seasons under Lincoln Riley. He was hired to that post in June of 2023 and worked with two different Trojan coordinators during that time — Alex Grinch in year one and D’Anton Lynn in year two.
The role of a defensive analyst varies at each school but due to recent NCAA rule changes, it can now be an on-field, hands-one coach during practice. At Georgia, Kirby Smart has often referred to the position as one that coaches the coaches and supports them in various ways. Numerous coaches have left analyst jobs at Georgia and taken on-field jobs at other programs.
He’ll be working in close capacity with a guy who used to be his head coach. Georgia analyst Will Muschamp was the head man at South Carolina for Allen-Williams’ final three seasons of college ball.

Despite the best efforts of Georgia’s coaching staff at the time, Allen-Williams chose South Carolina coming out of high school. He was the No. 92 overall prospect and No. 9 linebacker in the 2014 class according to the On3 Industry ranking. He was the No. 8 player in Georgia.
He spent five seasons in Columbia, playing a ton of snaps but also dealing with a myriad of injuries. Allen-Williams was invited to the NFL Combine but did not get selected in the 2019 NFL Draft. He was signed by the then-Oakland Raiders but he did not catch on.
It didn’t take long for Allen-Williams to get into coaching. He became a graduate assistant at Georgia State under Shawn Elliot and held that post for approximately two years. North Carolina brought him on after that where he continued as a graduated assistant before making the mover to Los Angeles.
