Four Georgia Bulldogs will suit up on Saturday in Mobile, Ala. for the 2023 Reese’s Senior Bowl. Running back Kenny McIntosh, safety Christopher Smith, offensive lineman Warren McClendon and kicker Jack Podlesny all will take part in the showcase-style game with NFL scouts on hand on the “American Team.”

All four of the former Georgia stars helped lead the Bulldogs to back to back National Championships in 2021 and 2022. McIntosh led the team in rushing and totaled over 1,000 yards from scrimmage behind one of the best offensive lines – McClendon was a part of it – while Smith served as a team captain and held down the back end of Georgia’s defense. Then, in the all important third aspect of the game, Podlesny was named SEC Special Team Player of the Year.

All four also have something to prove still. None are seen as surefire first-round picks. In fact, it’s not a guarantee that they all even get drafted. Todd McShay said earlier this week that he thought McIntosh might have the most to prove of any player at the Senior Bowl while Smith was working with a room of safeties this week where he could boost his stock a bit with a strong showing.

“It’s like camp,” McIntosh said during his interview at the Senior Bowl. “They’re just trying to test you, mental and physical toughness. Waking up at six in the morning and going to sleep late, stuff like that. Learning new plays and being able to take the meetings to the field. I feel at Georgia they definitely prepared us for stuff like this, definitely. Since a freshman they definitely… Kirby, and his staff definitely get us prepared for stuff like this and the next level.”

“I’m excited to go out there and compete against great players from all over the nation. I’m going to get out there and learn new things from NFL coaches and other players in attendance,” Smith said himself in anticipation of the week. “I’m the ultimate competitor. I’m never going to reject an opportunity to compete. I’ll be seeing a lot of talents at the Senior Bowl that I didn’t necessarily see on a weekly basis. Obviously, I’m extremely used to playing against talent from the SEC, but I think there are a lot of excellent talents throughout the other conferences as well. There are a lot of great players that come from all walks of life in college football. I’m excited to see those players I might be less familiar with in Mobile.”

Kickoff for Saturday’s contest is shttps://youtu.be/GznYiu2uvJEet for 2:30 p.m. ET from Hancock Whitney Stadium in Mobile. Fans can tune in to watch the game on the NFL Network. The senior bowl is the longest continual running all-star game having taken place the past 73 years. On hand this week are more than 900 NFL personnel and nearly 1,000 media members from around the country. Last year’s game produced a record-tying 106 draft picks for the second straight year.
