Valdosta State has been good to Georgia over the past seven or eight years and the Bulldogs are reaching into that well again. This time they’re adding Jeremy King to the support staff as an offensive line graduate assistant.
King spent this past season at Valdosta State as the graduate assistant working with the running backs. King took to Twitter to announce the news and his bio now reflects his new position at UGA.
Valdosta State,
Thank you for an incredible two years of growth, experiences, and support. To come and coach at your alma mater is something special and is something I’ll forever be grateful for. Thank you to all the coaches, players, and support staff for all the love and support given to me during my coaching tenure in Titletown! I’m excited for this next chapter in my life and will forever cherish the many memories created. Once a Blazer, always a Blazer!
Jeremy King
In addition to his two years there as a graduate assistant, a stint that began in March of 2021, King had a stellar playing career in Valdosta. He was a finalist for the Gene Upshaw Award in 2018, an honor that goes annually to the Division II lineman of the year. He was also named an All-American. He spend five seasons with the program and graduated in 2008 with a Psychology degree.
King, who hails from Macon, then gave professional football a try. He spent two seasons with the Green Bay Blizzard of the indoor football league before deciding to get into coaching.

Kirby Smart spent two seasons coaching at Valdosta State in 2001 and 2002. He was the defensive backs coach while UGA co-defensive coordinator Will Muschamp was the defensive coordinator. When Muschamp moved on to become the defensive coordinator at LSU the following season, Smart stepped into the defensive coordinator role.
King has big shoes to help fill…
The Bulldogs are undoubtedly hoping that King can help offset the loss of offensive line assistant Eddie Gordon. He spent time at Georgia as a graduate assistant and then as an off-field staffer and played a massive role in developing, recruiting, and evaluating offensive line over the past few years. He is now the offensive line coach for Trent Dilfer at UAB.
The young assistant coach will have plenty to work with, however, as Georgia has steadily brought in elite talent from in and outside of the Peach State. King will get to work with guys like Monroe Freeling, Bo Hughley, and Kelton Smith from the 2023 class and Earnest Greene from the 2022 group.
