ATHENS, Ga. — It’s Saturday in the Classic City, the site of the 127th playing of The Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry between Georgia and Auburn. We’re well into October but this will be the Bulldogs first home SEC game of the season. They’re currently 5-0 on the year and ranked No. 2 in the nation.

The Tigers are trying to get back on track after losing two of their last three. They have dropped games to Penn State and LSU. It would be three consecutive losses if not for a Missouri fumble just prior to crossing the goal line a couple of weeks ago.

Any rivalry as old as this one has plenty of history. We’ve seen last-minute victories, legendary performances, and four-quarter, instant-classic slugfests.

“I will open with the tradition and history of this game is pretty incredible,” Georgia head coach Kirby Smart said to begin his first press conference of the week. “I think when you talk about one of the oldest rivalries in college football, it’s always been a game that I know, as a player, I looked forward to playing in. It’s been some tremendous games between the two teams, and our guys are looking forward to getting to play at home in front of a raucous crowd, great atmosphere. I’m expecting our fans to turn out and give us an electric atmosphere to play in against a good Auburn football team.”

There’s more than history stoking the flames of this ranked vs. unranked matchup. Sure, Georgia is favored by 29.5 points coming in but some comments from Auburn offensive lineman Brandon Council earlier this week have provided added intrigue.

“I believe just their third down packages,” Council said according to AuburnLive. “They’ve got some interior stunts that kind of hinders the run game, but we’re going to start off fast. You start off fast and run the ball on them and keep them out of their third down packages. We could demolish them, I believe, personally, upfront.

“Because right now, they don’t have that much depth due to injuries in the interior D-Line, and the guys that do come out- I don’t think they trust them,” Council said. “If we keep them out of third down where they can’t bring packages and keep their main guys on the field, we’re just going to run the ball on them all day because they’re going to get tired.”

Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. ET on CBS, but there are other ways to keep up with the action. Below, DawgsHQ provides ways for you to stream the game live, listen in, and keep up with the live stats.

4th Quarter…

TOUCHDOWN (4:45): Georgia gets those seven points right back with their fourth touchdown drive of the second half. With Bennett still in the game and throwing, the Bulldogs use 11 plays to travel 65 yards and Robinson caps it off with the first touchdown of his career. It was from 15 yards out and Podlesny’s PAT puts Georgia up 42-10.

TOUCHDOWN (9:51): Auburn answers back thanks to some shoddy tackling from the Bulldogs. Ashford finds Jarquez Hunter on a short pass and Georgia misses a tackle near the sideline, allowing Hunter to go a total of 62 yards for the score. The PAT cut Georgia’s lead to 35-10.

TOUCHDOWN (11:10): Georgia gets into the end zone for a fifth time and, once again, it’s Edwards. The Bulldogs travel 63 yards on six plays with Bennett finding Dominick Blaylock and Brock Bowers for chunk plays on the drive. Edwards takes it in from seven yards out and Podlesny’s PAT gives the Bulldogs a 35-3 lead.

TOUCHDOWN (14:49): Bennett drops back to pass on the first play of the fourth quarter and tucks it to run. He splits the Auburn defense and out runs everyone to the end zone from 64 yards out. Podlesny’s PAT gives Georgia a 28-3 lead.

3rd Quarter…

TOUCHDOWN (7:07): Georgia puts together its first legit drive of the day, traveling 81 yards on 11 plays. Bennett found McConkey for a 21-yard gain and Washington for a 16-yard gain on the drive. Edwards reaches the end zone for the second time on the day, this time from two yards out. Podlesny’s PAT extends the Georgia lead to 21-3.

FIELD GOAL (11:51): The Georgia defense stands tall and holds Auburn to three points on a very short field. The Bulldogs surrender seven yards after the fumble and the Tigers kick a 29-yard field goal on 4th and 3. Georgia’s lead is cut to 14-3.

FUMBLE (13:47): Horrible start to the second half as Stetson Bennett IV, after two runs gained just four yards on first and second down, drops back to pass and is sacked. He fumbles on the play and Auburn recovers at the Georgia 19-yard line.

2nd Quarter…

TOUCHDOWN (8:45): Georgia forces another punt and gets a 38-yard return from Ladd McConkey to the Auburn 31-yard line. Branson Robinson bites off 23 yards on the first play and Daijun Edwards finishes it off two plays later from a yard out. Podlesny’s PAT gives Georgia a 14-0 lead.

TOUCHDOWN (11:42): Georgia makes Auburn pay for the failed fake punt. The Bulldogs use seven plays to travel 36 yards, mostly on the ground, with Kenny McIntosh taking it in on a toss sweep from two yards out on 3rd and goal. Podlesny’s PAT gives the Bulldogs a 7-0 lead.

1st Quarter…

FAKE PUNT FAILED (0:25): Auburn lines up to punt on 4th and 6 from its own 34-yard line but it’s a fake. The Tigers try to run it by Nolan Smith shuts it down after two yards, giving the ball back to the Bulldog offense at the Auburn 36-yard line.

FIELD GOAL MISSED (2:18): Georgia gets something going on its third possession but the drive stalls when Darnell Washington is flagged for an illegal block below the waist on 3rd and 1. It wiped out first-down gain. Jack Podlesny comes on to try a 47-yard field goal and misses wide left. Still no score.

Pregame…

***Georgia wins the toss and it defers to the second half. Auburn will receive the opening kickoff.

  • Mondon did not do pregame drills with the Georgia inside linebackers. When the Bulldogs transition to offense vs. defense work, Rian Davis and Jamon Dumas-Johnson were the first-team ILBs.
  • Redshirt sophomore wideout Arian Smith is catching kickoffs during pregame warmup. He returned to the field at Missouri after preseason ankle surgery.
  • Georgia inside linebacker Smael Mondon, who is dealing with a left ankle injury, is down on the field prior to pregame warmup. He’s wearing his game pants, indicating that he will dress out for the game. We listed Mondon as questionable for this game after Smart said on Tuesday that the sophomore linebacker struggled through the first two practices of the week.
  • Sophomore defensive back Javon Bullard, who started the first four games at STAR, will be dressing out for this game. He, too, is going through a workout before pregame warmup. Smart said earlier in the week that Bullard would be back this week after being suspended last week. The suspension was due to a DUI arrest the morning after the Bulldogs win over Kent State last month.
  • Georgia players are going through their paces before pregame warmup and sophomore wideout AD Mitchell is participating. He’s running routes and catching passes.
