WATCH: The making of Georgia's second championship ring
Georgia players entered the 2021 football season with zero jewelry. Now they’ve got plenty. The Bulldogs have won two National Championships in as many seasons and they received their second ring six days ago at the G-Day Spring Scrimmage.
Bulldog fans and players were fired up about the new rings, which calls back to the 2021 National Championship. The ring features two title trophies and acknowledges the perfect 15-0 season. It also shouts out Southern California, the site of the second National Championship win.
How did the Bulldogs settle on the design? Who was involved? Those questions are answered in a recent feature released by the program. The video, which is well over three minutes, shows that Bryant Gantt and Scott Cochran were involved in the process. Veteran wide receiver Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint is also providing input.
Believe it or not, there were quite a few philosophical conversations that went into it. Those from UGA’s end appear to be set on getting it just right.

The Bulldogs rolled to an undefeated 15-0 season in 2022, taking down Ohio State in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl semifinal of the College Football Playoff before beating TCU in the National Championship Game 65-7. Stetson Bennett threw for 304 yards and four touchdowns while also adding a pair on the ground to tie a National Championship Game record of touchdowns accounted for. Bennett won Offensive MVP while Javon Bullard, who had three turnovers in the first half alone, won Defensive MVP.
Georgia loses several players for the 2022 team including Bennett, leading rusher Kenny McIntosh, captain Nolan Smith and unanimous All-Americans defensive tackle Jalen Carter and safety Christopher Smith. All five of those, plus eight others, entered the 2023 NFL Draft while at least 10 players from the team have already entered the transfer portal. The Bulldogs do however bring back leading receivers Brock Bowers and Ladd McConkey on offense as well as its two top tacklers Jamon Dumas-Johnson and Smael Mondon on defense.
