Mammoth OL Marcus Harrison commits to Georgia
Georgia has picked up another commitment coming off its scavenger hunt weekend. St. Francis (Athol, N.Y.) offensive lineman Marcus Harrison announced Tuesday morning that he has joined the Bulldogs’ class.
“After a conversation with (Stacey Searels) and (Kirby Smart), I would like to announce that I am 100% a Georgia Bulldog,” Harrison said in a tweet.
Standing at nearly 6-foot-8 and tipping the scales at 335 pounds, Harrison is a three-star prospect in the 2024 class. He holds a dozen reported offers with Miami, Pittsburgh, and Michgan State among those who got involved.
The On3 Industry Ranking views him as the nation’s No. 525 overall prospect and No. 30 offensive tackle. He’s the No. 4 player in New York.
Harrison is the second offensive lineman to commit to Georgia in the 2024 class. He joins Cass (Cartersville, Ga.) offensive tackle Malachi Tolliver. He, too, is a three-star prospect per the latest ratings at On3 and other prospect evaluation entities.
Recent Georgia history on the OL…
When Kirby Smart took the job at UGA, the Bulldogs hadn’t had an offensive lineman drafted in the first round since 2003. That changed in the 2018 NFL Draft when Isaiah Wynn was taken by New England with the No. 24 overall pick.
Since then the Bulldogs have had offensive linemen, all tackles, taken in the first round and one is from the same state as Harrison. Andrew Thomas was by the New York Giants with the No. 4 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft and Isaiah Wilson, who hails from the Empire State, was picked No. 29 overall by Tennessee.
Broderick Jones became the fourth first-round offensive lineman under Smart when he was picked No. 14 overall in the 2023 NFL Draft. Pittsburgh made the selection.

Georgia has also seen Lamont Gaillard, Solomon Kindley, Trey Hill, Ben Cleveland, and Jamaree Salyer selected in the NFL Draft since 2019.

That particular region of the United States has been quite fruitful for the Bulldog offensive line since Smart became the head coach. Wilson was a two-year starter and high-level performer despite struggles to handle the NFL lifestyle and game.
Current starting left guard Xavier Truss hails from Rhode Island and has made 16 starts in his Bulldog career. So long as he stays healthy, he’ll add 15 starts to that total in 2023.
Then there is the late Devin Willock, a New Jersey native who passed away in a traffic car accident back in January. Willock was a lowly-recruited three-star prospect in the 2020 class who was coming on to challenge for a starting spot last season. Willock had earned a spot in the rotation with a strong 2022 preseason camp.
Counting Harrison, all of the offensive linemen Georgia the Bulldogs have landed from that area are listed at at least 6-foot-7 and tip the scales at 330 pounds or more.
