ATHENS, Ga. — Georgia is entering the toughest stretch of its 2023 schedule with three ranked games in as many weeks. The highest-ranked of those teams is Ole Miss and there are three different potential time slots according to an announcement by the SEC. The Bulldogs and Rebels could play at 3:30 p.m. ET on CBS as the game of the week, 7 p.m. ET on ESPN, or 7:30 p.m. ET on The SEC Network.

This will be just the second time a Kirby Smart-coached Georgia team has taken on Ole Miss. The Bulldogs last played the Rebels in 2016, Smart’s first season as head coach. Ole Miss won that game decisively in Oxford, taking a 31-0 lead into the half and winning 45-14. That was the fourth game of Kirby Smart’s head coaching career.

UGA, however, has dominated the series over the years. The Bulldogs have a 32-12-1 record against the Rebels dating back to the first matchup in 1940. That Ole Miss win in 2016 broke a string of 10 straight wins by Georgia, a run that began in 1997.

Ole Miss is currently ranked No. 11 in the AP Poll and No. 10 in the coaches poll with the initial College Football Playoff Rankings coming out on Tuesday. Lane Kiffin‘s squad is 7-1 on the season after thumping Vanderbilt 33-7 this past Saturday. The team’s only loss is to Alabama and the Rebels have notable wins over LSU and Tulane in 2023.
