Early enrollees have become key for programs across American and there’s no place where that is more true than the University of Georgia. The Bulldogs had almost two dozen last year and the list is growing by the day for the 2023 class with four-stars Pierce Spurlin and CJ Allen announcing their plans to join the team in January or sooner.

Both players took to twitter to announce the news with Spurlin firing off first on Monday morning. Allen’s tweet came soon after.

Spurlin is a 6-foot-6 230-pound tight end from South Walton High School in Santa Rosa Beach, Fla. He’s ranked as the nation’s No. 105 overall prospect and No. 3 tight end according to the On3 Consensus. Spurlin is the No. 25 player in Florida.

“Lengthy tight end with twitch and a wide catch radius. Measured over 6-foot-5 and around 230 pounds with a 33.75-inch arm. Ultra productive offensive weapon that totaled 74 catches for 1,404 yards and 20 touchdowns as a junior. Wins at the catch point with body control and explosiveness. Has a knack for bursting through arm tackles and getting upfield in a hurry. A willing blocker that looks to finish, just needs to continue adding play strength to become more productive in that role. Also plays basketball. Has a leaner build with plenty of room for growth – has added close to 30 pounds between his sophomore and senior years. Has the chance to be productive early on at the next level. Can become a complete tight end once he physically develops and becomes a greater force as a blocker in the run game.” — On3 Scouting

Georgia will likely lose Darnell Washington at the end of the 2022 season. Brett Seither and Ryland Goede were both honored at Senior Day last month. Georgia will definitely have Brock Bowers and Oscar Delp on the roster in 2023.

Allen is a four-star inside linebacker out of Lamar Comprehensive School in Barnesville, Ga. He’s the nation’s No. 98 overall prospect and No. 9 linebacker. He’s the No. 5 prospect in the Peach State, all per the On3 Consensus.

“Explosive linebacker who wins with processing and ability to sort through the trash to bring down ball carriers. Good tester in the combine setting who jumped a 30-inch vertical and 9’7” broad jump in 2022 as well as an electronically-timed 4.62 second 40 in 2021. A three-sport athlete that ran a 23.72 200m in 2022 and 11.18 100m in 2021. Also plays basketball. A two-way player on Friday nights, playing running back and linebacker. Rushed for 1,080 yards and 16 touchdowns along with 91 tackles and 3 interceptions as a junior. Shows excellent field vision and awareness. Rarely caught out of position and quick to trigger and come downhill. Efficient tackler that gets his face across ball carriers consistently. Lacks Ideal length for the position, but is always around the football and should be productive at the next level.” — On3 Scouting

Georgia doesn’t have anyone imminently leaving at inside linebacker after this season. Trezmen Marshall and Rian Davis are the oldest guys in that room and they have played key roles this season. They have two years of eligibility left.

Four-star wideout Tyler Williams confirmed over the weekend that he, too, will enroll early. DawgsHQ has also note that five-star outside linebacker Samuel M’Pemba and four-star running back Roderick Robinson will also be enrolling early, bringing the current tally to at least five.
