Georgia flips 4-star DL Nasir Johnson from Florida
Georgia has added a massive piece to its 2024 class and it has done so at the expense of SEC Eastern Division rival Florida. Dublin (Dublin, Ga.) defensive lineman Nasir Johnson announced on Wednesday that he has flipped his commitment from the Gators to the Bulldogs. He becomes UGA’s 28th commitment in the current class.
Johnson is fresh off his official visit to Georgia. He was in town for the Bulldogs 52-17 drubbing of Ole Miss over the weekend. The 6-foot-4 300-pound defender got into town on Friday and left on Sunday. He had been committed to the Gators on Jun 17 and took two unofficial visits to Gainesville earlier this season.
When The World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party took place late last month, it was the Gators turn to host prospects. Johnson was in attendance for that one and he also took an unofficial visit to Georgia for the season opener vs. UT-Martin on September 2.
At 6-foot-4 300 pounds, Johnson is the nation’s No. 171 overall prospect per the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that includes ratings from all four recruiting services. He’s the nation’s No. 21 defensive lineman and the No. 27 overall prospect in the Peach State.

Johnson is the Bulldogs fifth defensive lineman commitment in the 2024 class. Georgia added Joseph Jonah-Ajonye over the summer and he’s the highest-rated of the bunch. Jonah-Ajonye is ranked No. 37 overall by the On3 Industry ranking. The Bulldogs also have four-star prospects Justin Greene and Jordan Thomas in the fold. Those two, like Jonah-Ajonye, committed to the Bulldogs over the summer. Three-star nose tackle Nnamdi Ogboko also committed to the Bulldogs this summer.
At 28 commitments, Georgia is still holding strong with the nation’s No. 1 class in the 2024 cycle. The Bulldogs are signing a big defensive line class because they’re expected to lose as many as four defensive linemen at the end of the season. Sixth-year senior Tramel Walthour is out of eligibility at the end of the year. Interior defensive linemen Zion Logue, Warren Brinson, and Nazir Stackhouse were all acknowledged this past Saturday for senior day.
