RPM: Georgia takes lead for another 5-star playmaker
Georgia’s commitment list shrunk from 12 to 11 on Monday as it lost five-star tight end Landen Thomas to Florida State. That caused the Bulldogs to lose the top spot in the 2024 On3 Industry Ranking team standings, but it might not stay that way for long.
Kirby Smart and company are trending for a number of the nation’s top prospects and that includes five-star wideout Ryan Wingo (St. Louis University; St. Louis, Mo.). Georgia surged to the front of the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine on Tuesday, passing Notre Dame in the process. The Bulldogs hold 50.1 percent and the Fighting Irish have 33.9 percent.
At 6-foot-2 215 pounds, Wingo is the nation’s No. 21 overall prospect and No. 5 wide receiver per the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted combination of the recruiting rankings published by the four main outlets. He’s the No. 2 prospect in Missouri.
“An electric playmaker who picks up yards in a hurry. Ran a 10.64 100m, 21.46 200m and a 50.72 400m in 2022. The ability to defeat the angle with the ball in his hands is among the best in the 2024 cycle early on. Can take the top off of defenses with ease but is not just a straight line player. His ability to make defenders miss in tight spaces and finish runs is rare for someone with his long speed. Has a chance to be an impact player at the next level. Older brother is former Arkansas running back Ronnie Wingo.” — On3 Scouting
Wingo bio and Georgia’s 2024 class…
Both of Wingo’s brothers played football in the SEC. His oldest brother, Ronnie, was a running back for Arkansas and played in the NFL for Atlanta and Buffalo. His other brother, Raymond, played defensive back at Missouri
Georgia currently has three wideouts committed in the 2024 class. If Wingo were to join the fold, he would definitely be the highest-ranked of the bunch.

Colquitt County (Moultrie, Ga.) receiver Ny Carr is ranked as the nation’s No. 63 overall prospect and No. 12 wideout. Georgia also has four-star wideout Nitro Tuggle and three-star wideout Sacovie White committed.
Despite losing Thomas to Florida State, the Bulldogs appear to have quite a bit of recruiting momentum. The nation’s No. 1 prospect, Pinnacle (Phoenix, Ariz.) quarterback Dylan Raiola, is trending UGA’s way per the On3 RPM. The Bulldogs hold the lead over USC.
UGA is also in the lead for elite tight end prospect Jaden Reddell, who, like Ringo, hails from the Show Me State. Reddell is the nation’s No. 49 overall prospect and No. 2 tight end per the On3 Industry Ranking. Adding any one of Wingo, Raiola, or Reddell would push Georgia to No. 1 in the 2024 team rankings.
