Game time, television announced for Georgia vs. Tennessee
We now have the details for what could be one of the biggest games of the 2022 College Football regular season — No. 1 Georgia vs. No. 3 Tennessee. The SEC and CBS announced on Monday that the game will kickoff at 3:30 p.m. ET as the CBS SEC game of the week.
Both the Bulldogs and Volunteers have one game before they meet. Georgia takes on Florida in Jacksonville on October 29 while Tennessee will host No. 19 Kentucky. UGA and Florida will kickoff at 3:30 p.m. ET while the Vols and Wildcats will kickoff at 7 p.m. ET.
The fact that each team has a big game before the showdown on November 5 means that things could change, but there’s another factor in play. The 2022 College Football Playoff rankings debut on November 1. There’s a real chance that Georgia and Tennessee are ranked No. 1 and No. 2 when those come out.
Combine what the Bulldogs and Volunteers have done this season and you have the two most impressive regular seasons wins. Alabama is the nation’s top one-loss team and it is ranked No. 6. Tennessee handed the Crimson Tide that loss a little over a week ago. The nation’s next highest-ranked one-loss team is Oregon and Georgia was responsible for that blemish back on September 3 in the season opener.
Georgia is ranked No. 1 right now in both the AP and coaches polls, but it could be Tennessee and its stellar resume in the top spot of the College Football Playoff rankings when these two teams meet.
Kirby Smart and company have won 25 of their last 26 games dating back to a four-game win streak to end the 2020 season. One of those wins was at Tennessee last year by a score of 41-17. That game also kicked off at 3:30 p.m. ET on CBS and it was UGA’s fifth straight win over the Volunteers.

Tennessee’s last win over Georgia came in 2016 inside Sanford Stadium. Georgia took a 31-28 lead with 10 seconds left in that game after Jacob Eason hit Riley Ridley for a touchdown from 47 yards out. That sent the home crowd into a state of euphoria that didn’t last long.
Due to a 15-yard unsportsmanlike penalty and a less-than-successful squib kick, Tennessee got one last shot at the end zone. Joshua Dobbs connected with Jauan Jennings on a 43-yard Hail Mary touchdown with no time left to secure the Volunteer victory.
Since that game Georgia has outscored its SEC East rival 207-64 in the last five games. The average margin of victory in those games is just under 29 points with the Bulldogs averaging over 41 points per game and Tennessee just under 13.
This year’s Tennessee team sports one of the top offenses in College Football, led by sixth-year senior quarterback and Heisman Trophy front runner Hendon Hooker.
