Georgia swipes electric Florida transfer RB Trevor Etienne from portal
Georgia has added another SEC playmaker via the transfer portal and this time it is at an arch rival’s expense. Former Florida running back Trevor Etienne announced Sunday that he will continue his football career in Athens with three years to play two.
The 5-foot-9 205 younger brother of Jacksonville Jaguars running back and Ex-Clemson standout Travis Etienne has spent the past two seasons in Gainsville. Each of those seasons saw him rack up over 700 yards on the ground and 1,472 yards in total. Etienne has posted 14 rushing touchdowns during that time, averaging nearly six yards per carry. He also caught 30 passes for 238 yards and a score.
The Gators weren’t shy about getting Etienne involved on special teams. He returned 26 kickoffs in 2022 and 2023 combined, piling up 645 yards. He has four kickoff returns of 30 or more yards in his career.
Georgia has gotten a couple of good looks at the speedy running back. He had 11 totes for 53 yards against the Bulldogs in 2022 and followed that up with seven carries for 42 yards against them this season. UGA is also familiar with Etienne from the recruiting process. He had a Georgia offer when he committed to the Gators in the 2022 class.
Etienne is Georgia’s fourth transfer portal pickup, joining Vanderbilt receiver London Humphreys, South Carolina defensive lineman Xzavier McLeod and Miami wideout Colbie Young.

Why Georgia is adding Etienne…
The Bulldogs are set to lose their two most experienced tailbacks at the end of the 2023 season. Both Kendall Milton and Daijun Edwards have a year of eligibility yet seeing as how they started their careers in the 2020 COVID season. Those years didn’t count against the eligibility of any player in any sport.
But both were honored during the Georgia Senior Day ceremony at Sanford Stadium prior to the Ole Miss game in November. Neither is expected back and that leaves the Bulldogs in a situation where it’s most experienced tailback has just 68 career carries. That guy, Branson Robinson, is coming off a torn patellar tendon suffered in 2023 preseason camp. He did not play at all in 2023.
Georgia also returns Andrew Paul and Roderick Robinson at running back, both of whom saw their first action in 2023. Paul signed with Georgia in 2022 but suffered an ACL a couple of months after enrolling. He played sparingly in 2023. Robinson was a true freshman in 2023 and missed a chunk of the season with a high-ankle sprain, also playing sparingly.
