TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — It’s a top-5 battle between No. 2 Georgia and No. 4 Alabama at Bryant-Denny Stadium Saturday night in Tuscaloosa, and DawgsHQ is on hand to take in the action. Kirby Smart brings Bulldogs in with a 3-0 record while Kalen DeBoer is in his first-year as the Crimson Tide coach, also boasting an unbeaten mark so far. Only one will remain perfect on the season after tonight.

Georgia’s record against Alabama has been well documented. All-time, Alabama is one of few teams that can claim an advantage over Georgia. The Crimson Tide have won 43 of the total 73 matchups including eight of the last nine.

UGA’s lone victory in that stretch came during the 2021 season in the National Championship as revenge for a loss handed to them in the conference title game. As for this one, it’s a rematch of the 2023 SEC Championship Game that kept Georgia out of the College Football Playoffs. While much is different from last meeting to Saturday’s, the emotions of last year’s loss certainly linger as Carson Beck and company face Jalen Milroe again.

“Do you look at last year’s game? You always look at things like that from a personnel standpoint, matchup. You see guys in there, that game, our game, that overlap … I don’t think we chase the past at all. I think that you watch the tape, two different teams,” Kirby Smart said about facing Alabama after last year’s loss. “We’re focused on what we can do to be our best this week. The ghost we’re chasing is past performances this year, and what we can do to clean that up, and how we can be more efficient. I wouldn’t say it’s anything to do with them.”

Having won 42 straight regular season contests, the second-longest streak all time behind Oklahoma of the 1950s, ESPN Analytics gives UGA just a 34.5% chance of keeping that streak alive another week, although the Bulldogs do enter as slight favorites – the first time Alabama has been a home underdog since 2007.

*** Trevor Etienne picks up the first down with a gain of 12 yards to the UGA 45.
*** Georgia has it at the UGA 33 facing 3rd and 2. All three timeouts for both sides.

*** Two minute timeout comes upon us with Georgia facing a 3rd and 2. Carson Beck’s pass to Arian Smith on first down was incomplete before an 8-yard scramble by Beck on second down. (41-34 BAMA 2:00 4Q)
*** Georgia will take over at its 25 after the touchback.
*** Alabama 2-point conversion is good. Alabama back on top by a touchdown. (41-34 BAMA 2:18 4Q)
*** Jalen Milroe responds with a 75-yard strike on the first play to Ryan Williams down the UGA sideline. Crimson Tide going for two. (39-34 BAMA 2:18 4Q)
*** Carson Beck finds Dillon Bell wide open for a 67 yard touchdown. Georgia takes its first lead of the day with 2:31 to go. (34-33 UGA 2:31 4Q)

*** Georgia gets off the field and will take over at the its own 33 after CJ Allen stops Justice Haynes short of the line to gain on 3rd and 4. Crimson Tide opted to punt on 4th and 1 from their own 26.
*** Jalen Milroe completes for a first down to get the Crimson Tide off their own goal line. Germie Bernard picks up 10 to the Alabama 17.
*** Alabama fumbles the kickoff and will take over inside its own 5 yard line.

*** Touchdown Georgia. Dillon Bell rushes in from 3 yards out. Now a one score game with 5:39 to go. PAT by Peyton Woodring is good. (33-28 BAMA 5:39 4Q)
*** Handoff to Cash Jones loses yardage. Jared Wilson down on the play. Drew Bobo snapping to Carson Beck on the sideline as Wilson gets attended to on the field. Will be 2nd and Goal from the Alabama 2 when play resumes.
*** Another long Beck completion, this time to Arian Smith, gets UGA to the 1.
*** Carson Beck completes to Cash Jones for a pickup of 30 to the Alabama 48.
*** Alabama moved the chains on 3rd and 6 but the Bulldogs get off the field with a nice pass breakup by Daylen Everette on 3rd and 11. Will be Georgia ball at its 22 with 7:14 to go.

*** Georgia goes 80 yards down the field in six plays and 1:46 to get into the end zone. Bulldogs get the benefit of a penalty on 4th and 3 and take advantage of the gift by going 21 and 34 yards on the next two plays. Carson Beck caps it off by connecting with Lawson Luckie in the end zone. 2-point conversion fails. (33-21 BAMA 9:46 4Q)

*** Alabama punt tema comes on after a three-and-out. Anthony Evans lets it roll into the end zone. Georgia will take over at the 20.
*** Carson Beck is flushed out of the pocket and fumbles. Recovered by Alabama at the UGA 47.
*** Quarter opens with a toss to Trevor Etienne that loses one. Dawgs do convert the 4th and 6 however into Alabama territory.

Third Quarter

*** Quarter comes to a close with Georgia facing a 3rd and 5. (33-15 BAMA END 3Q)
*** Carson Beck completes to Arian Smith for a conversion on 3rd and 7.

*** Georgia holds for a field goal but that makes it a three-score game. Graham Nicholson makes from 28 yards out. (33-15 BAMA 1:23 3Q)
*** Ryan Williams hauls in a miraculous ball. Tippped it to himself after being defended by Malaki Starks downfield. Play picks up 54 to the UGA 13 and is about as demoralizing as they come. To add insult to injury – or injury to insult – Jalon Walker is helped off the field by trainers.

*** Carson Beck finds Lawson Luckie for the 2-point conversion. It’s a two score game. (30-15 BAMA 5:06 3Q)
*** Screen pass to Dominic Lovett gains 32 to the Alabama 12. Next play, Arian Smith hauls in a score. Bulldogs will go for two. (30-13 BAMA 5:06 3Q)

*** Offsetting fouls keep Georgia from a free 4th down conversion. Bulldogs try again and this time are indeed bailed out by a penalty. Pass interference on Alabama makes it 1st and 10 from the Bamaa 44.
*** Kirby Smart quite upset with the referee on the Georgia sideline. Bulldogs took a deep shot to Lovett and it looked like he got held. Instead, it’ll be 4th and 5 from the UGA 46, trying to convert a third of this possession.
*** Dominic Lovett converts a 4th and 3 with a gain of 4 across the middle.
*** Holding penalty on Anthony Evans negates what would’ve put Georgia into Alabama territory on a screen pass to Dominic Lovett. Then, Xavier Truss is called for a false start.
*** Cash Jones carries for a conversion on 4th and 1. Georgia avoids an early exit off the field again and a turnover deep in its own territory.

*** Alabama responds to the Georgia three-and-out with one of its own. Bulldogs take over at their 20 after a Bama punt.
*** Georgia goes three-and-out after an Anthony Evans return to the UGA41. Brett Thorson punt is fair caught at the Alabama 26.

Second Quarter

*** Little bit of drama as the teams go to their locker rooms. Domani Jackson, who tackled Arian Smith on the final play of the first half, was talking to the Georgia sideline. As expected, the Bulldogs didn’t take too kindly to that. Alabama No. 58 Miles McVay comes in quite late and is flagged for an unsportsmanlike conduct. That’ll be enforced on the opening kickoff of the second half, one UGA will receive. (30-7 BAMA HALF)
*** Georgia completes a trio but it’s for nothing. Bulldogs will go into the locker room down 30-7, getting the ball after the break.

*** Alabama moves the ball into UGA territory and Kalen DeBoer and this Crimson Tide crowd are quite upset about a no call on a pass interference. Anthony Evans muffs the punt but recovers. Georgia has it with seconds to go in the half.

*** Not only does Georgia go three-and-out, but the Bulldogs give up a pair of points. Carson Beck penalized for intentional grounding from the end zone. While he had a pair of Crimson Tide defenders in his face, it’s another mistake to add to his first career two-interception game. (30-7 BAMA 1:39 4Q)

*** Alabama is going to take it to the end of the quarter after a 7-yard completion to Ryan Williams. Crimson Tide take a 21-0 lead into the second. First time since 2022 Peach Bowl against Ohio State that Georgia has given up 21 points in a quarter. (21-0 BAMA END 1Q)

*** Thorson is pressured on the punt. After a decent roll out, 40-yard punt will give it to Alabama at the Crimson Tide 33.
*** Timeout Alabama, first of the half by Kalen DeBoer.
*** Georgia goes three-and-out after a 6-yard rush by Trevor Etienne to get the drive underway. A gain of 0 and an incompletion thrown behind Dominic Lovett will bring on Brett Thorson.

*** After Jalen Milroe rushes into a goal-to-go situation, Germie Bernard finds the end zone on a rush to the left from 7 yards out. (21-0 BAMA 2:21 1Q)
*** Carson Beck intercepted by Domani Jackson. Return turns it over to the Crimson Tide at the 22.
*** Georgia’s first six plays are all passes. After an incompletion to open the drive, handoff to Trevor Etienne and a 2-yard gain makes it 3rd and 8 from the UGA27.

*** Touchdown Crimson Tide. Wheel route gets the Bulldogs again. CJ Allen beat in coverage by Jam Miller, who had a score in the SEC Championship against Raylen Wilson. (14-0 BAMA 4:39 1Q)
*** Alabama opens its drive with three consecutive big plays. Gains of 23, 21 and 19 (average of 21) get the Crimson Tide to the UGA 21 quickly.

Pregame

*** Georgia wins the toss and defers. Dawgs will be kicking right to left to begin this game.
*** Captains for Georgia: Carson Beck, Trevor Etienne, Jalon Walker, Malaki Starks
*** Teams are taking the field… atmosphere here is what you’d expect for a top-5 showdown

*** Kickoff time is officially set for 7:49 p.m. ET. Just over 20 minutes to go!
*** Mykel Williams went through drills with the defensive line but when the Bulldogs went 11-on-11, didn’t seem to be very involved with either the first or second team. Appeared to get a snap or two but nothing extensive. Truly a gametime decision it seems.
*** Georgia has taken the field for warmups and DawgsHQ has a travel roster compiled for you. UGA has 72 players dressed out, plus Tate Ratledge and Jordan Hall as part of the injured crew. Click here to check that out…

*** On a somewhat positive note, Hall is with the team and working out with Scott Sinclair during inital pregame warmups. Means he traveled and would guess that would count agianst Georgia’s 74 for the travel roster.
*** Final availability report is out. Jordan Hall downgraded to out while Williams is listed as a game time decision. Warren Brinson not being on there after being listed as probable is a good sign. Roderick Robinson, London Humphreys, Sacovie White and Tate Ratledge are out. Alabama’s banged up trio of Qua Russaw, Richard Young and Jeremiah Alexander all listed as game time decisions.
*** We’ve arrived. Security, including Secret Service, was tight for this one with former President Donald Trump expected to be in attendance. Stay tuned for updates as Georgia arrives and the Bulldogs begin their pregame warmups. Biggest thing we’ll be watching: participation of Mykel Williams and the defensive linemen – a group that could look pretty different from the one that went to Kentucky. Also, how do the Dawgs handle being down two scholarship receviers in Sacovie White and London Humphreys too.
