LIVE UPDATES: No. 2 Georgia 34, Florida 20 - FINAL

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Georgia and Florida meet again. It’s the World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party and a rivalry that goes back to the early 1900s – they can’t even agree on when they first met though – with over 100 meetings. All-time, UGA owns the advantage, 56-44-2 according to the Bulldogs, with three straight wins to their name. Georgia hasn’t won four straight in the series since the early 1980s, and it’s been since the early 2000s that Florida did.
“I think they’re playing their best football,” Georgia head coach Kirby Smart said about the Gators. “I think they have a really, really good roster. A lot of players we’ve recruited and recruited against them, but they’re playing their best football, and obviously a talented group.”
“Really a lot of great size across the front on the offensive and defensive lines. I think Billy (Napier) knows that’s where the key is in the SEC in terms of length and size. They play a lot of players on defense. They’ve had a lot of guys play up front,” he continued. “You know, their three losses have come to three teams that are ranked in the top ten. At least I think they are. I don’t even know. But they’re really good teams, and they played those teams well. So, a lot of respect for Billy. He and I have worked together before. I think he’s building a really good program down there, and he is a tremendous football coach. And he does not leave any box unchecked. I can assure you of that and know a lot of their staff. So, should be a great game in Jacksonville. It looks like it’s going to be great weather. It’s always a really tough, hard-fought game. I think it’ll be one of the most physical games we play all year.”

We’ll be live Saturday night after the conclusion of Georgia-Florida with our instant reactions, breaking down what we saw from the Bulldogs, win or lose…
Coming off of a bye week with a win over the then-top-ranked team, Texas, before it, Georgia is getting going at the right time. UGA has five games remaining in the regular season and finds itself currently ranked No. 2 by both the AP and Coaches with the College Football Playoff rankings set to release in a week.
As for Florida, this season has been a bit of struggle, but the Gators are starting to turn things around. After dropping two of their first three, Billy Napier’s squad has won three of the last four with the lone loss coming on the road and in overtime to a Tennessee team ranked in the top-10 at the time.

TOUCHDOWN GEORGIA!
11/2/2024, 7:21:39 PMTwo plays after the interception it’s another score. Freshman running back Dwight Phillips, who had appeared in just one game previously, takes his first career carry into the end zone for the score. Just like that, it’s a two-touchdown lead for UGA.

GEORGIA 20 – FLORIDA 20 – 7:29 4Q
Trading punts
11/2/2024, 6:55:48 PMGeorgia got it back and went three-and-out, but the Bulldog defense does its job and forces another. Today, seven of 11 times out for the Florida offense it’s ended in a three-and-out. UGA ball at the 12-yard-line with 11:20 to go.
UPDATE: Another three-and-out, this time it’s from the Georgia offense. A combined four straight drives have ended in three-and-out punts. Florida ball at the FLA 45.
Bulldogs taking momentum into the fourth
11/2/2024, 6:44:29 PMIt’s been a tackle for loss (Raylen Wilson) and a sack (Chaz Chambliss) after the touchdown. Will be 3rd & 14 when play resumes.
UPDATE: It’s an incompletion by Aidan Warner, nearly intercepted, that brings on the Florida punt team. He was pressured by Mykel Williams, and the pass was tipped by CJ Allen. Malaki Starks dove to try and intercept it.
TOUCHDOWN GEORGIA! (UGA 20-13 1:20 3Q)
11/2/2024, 6:38:21 PMThree plays later, Georgia has its first lead. After a 6-yard rush by Nate Frazier on first down, Carson Beck completed to Ben Yurosek to move the chains. Then, its a 22-yard touchdown for Cash Jones as he got matched up one-on-one out of the backfield, stayed on his feet to avoid and tackle and broke another at the goal line.
GEORGIA 20 – FLORIDA 13 – 1:27 3Q
Trouble on the snap!
11/2/2024, 6:37:20 PMFlorida picked up a pair of first downs including a nice third down throw by Aidan Warner, but a low snap on a 51-yard field goal attempt results in a loss of 31 yards and UGA recovery at the Gator 36.

11/2/2024, 6:25:17 PMGeorgia goes 83 yards in eight plays, using a couple of important plays by Dillon Bell (33-yard rush and an 11-yard red zone reception) and a 2-yard plunge into the end zone by Nate Frazier to tie things up. Frazier is flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct for the gator chomp and throat slash, but the Bulldogs are showing some fight.
GEORGIA 13 – FLORIDA 13 – 7:01 3Q
Georgia gets it back
11/2/2024, 6:11:22 PMGeorgia’s defense forces a three-and-out, and it’ll be Bulldog ball at their own 17 with Carson Beck taking the field three interceptions in.
That’s three…
11/2/2024, 6:04:58 PMCarson Beck is intercepted for a third time today. That’s three games for him with three interceptions after he came into the season without a single multi-interception game. There was pressure in his face, but Beck tries to do a little too much instead of taking the sack. Jack Pyburn gets the ball for the Gators at midfield.
Strong start from the defense
11/2/2024, 6:01:42 PMGeorgia defense forces a three-and-out, and the offense will take over at the UGA 29 after an 11-yard return by Malaki Starks.
Trevor Etienne Injury
11/2/2024, 5:57:33 PMWe’re keeping an eye on Trevor Etienne as Georgia returns to the field. He came out after all of his teammates and didn’t have gloves on. Still in uniform and still has his helmet, but his availability for the rest of the game – and what he’s dealing with – is uncertain. As far as a couple of players coming back, Dan Jackson and Joenel Aguero return from their first half targeting suspensions.
Halftime: Florida 13 – Georgia 6
11/2/2024, 5:38:29 PMFlorida leads at the break over Georgia thanks to two interceptions thrown by Carson Beck and a steady effort offensively. The Gators saw five-star freshman DJ Lagway go down and get replaced by walk-on Aidan Warner. He helped Florida add on a field goal late in the first half, responding to one from Georgia in the final minute as well. So far the difference has been the interceptions and Florida’s ability to take advantage off the first quickly with a 43-yard touchdown pass to Aidan Mizell.
Trey Smack Field Goal (UF 13-6 0:03 2Q)
11/2/2024, 5:36:04 PMFlorida goes 40 yards in eight plays using 40 seconds of clock, getting off a 53-yard field goal by Trey Smack. The kick is good, and the Gator lead is back out to a touchdown just before the break.
FLORIDA 13 – GEORGIA 6 – 0:03 2Q
Peyton Woodring Field Goal (UF 10-6 0:43 2Q)
11/2/2024, 5:29:33 PMGeorgia picked up 13 yards on the first play from scrimmage, but the Bulldogs can’t get any closer. Peyton Woodring makes from 53 yards. Florida will get it back with 43 seconds left in the first half.
FLORIDA 10 – GEORGIA 6 – 0:43 2Q
Kirby Smart Calls Final Timeout
11/2/2024, 5:21:20 PMJadan Baugh is tackled for a loss by Damon Wilson, and Georgia calls its final timeout. Bulldogs take over at the Florida 48 after the punt is fair caught by Malaki Starks. 1:13 to go in the half.
Daniel Harris Targeting (Overturned)
11/2/2024, 5:20:17 PMDaniel Harris makes a physical tackle on 2nd & 9, but he’s called for targeting. Officials will take a look at that. Georgia already short staffed in the secondary.

Gators will get it back
11/2/2024, 5:14:12 PMAfter an incompletion by Carson Beck on 3rd & 4, Georgia is forced to punt. Florida takes over at its 6-yard-line with 1:32 to go after the 47-yard punt by Brett Thorson. Of note, UGA RB Trevor Etienne went to the locker room early with trainers.
Two-minute timeout: Florida 10 – Georgia 3
11/2/2024, 5:12:37 PMGeorgia got off the field by forcing an incompletion and a scramble short of the line to gain by Aidan Warner. Then, taking over at the UGA 13, Carson Beck has moved the chains twice – once with a 10-yard scramble and another time with a 12-yard completion to Oscar Delp. 1:59 to go, both teams have all three timeouts to use in the final few moments of this first half.
Injuries on both sides
11/2/2024, 5:00:12 PMCart coming out for DJ Lagway with what looks like a potential knee injury. Aidan Warner, a walk-on transfer from Yale, is the backup quarterback warming up and looking like he’ll come in. Also banged up on the play is Georgia safety KJ Bolden. He’s moving around on the sideline but will be forced out for at least a play.
Georgia goes three-and-out
11/2/2024, 4:58:12 PMCarson Beck is sacked for a loss of 6 yards and Brett Thorson comes on to punt. Florida will take over at its 25 yard line after a fair catch. Nothing doing for the Dawgs there.
Florida forced to settle for field goal (UF 10-3 7:22 2Q)
11/2/2024, 5:37:49 PMFlorida ran the ball on seven straight plays, moving the chains three times including an 11-yard gain by Jadan Baugh that got the Gators inside the UGA 15. From there though, the Georgia defense did its job and forced the field goal, a 29-yard attempt by Trey Smack that goes through the upright.
FLORIDA 10 – GEORGIA 3 – 7:22 2Q
JaCorey Thomas Injury
11/2/2024, 4:45:06 PMLooked like an ankle injury for the STAR, starting in place of Joenel Aguero (out for first half due to targeting). He’s being replaced by Kyron Jones. First significant action for the redshirt freshman.
Another interception…
11/2/2024, 4:42:08 PMA second straight Georgia drive ends in an interception. Florida drops eight and Carson Beck throws into an area with three defenders. Aaron Gates comes up with it and returns it 30 yards out near midfield. Gators take over at their 49, up 7-3.
Carson Beck makes a mistake, Florida takes advantage (UF 7-3 13:42 2Q)
11/2/2024, 4:36:41 PMAfter Trevor Etienne picked up the first down and Carson Beck completed to London Humphreys, the senior quarterback made a mistake. He escaped pressure but threw an interception to Devin Moore, trying to get it to Humphreys again. One play later, DJ Lagway takes a shot to Aiden Mizell for the touchdown, finding the second-year receiver 43 yards downfield.
FLORIDA 7 – GEORGIA 3 – 13:42 2Q
Georgia gets off the field quickly, first quarter comes to a close
11/2/2024, 4:26:54 PMFlorida was in a 3rd & 1, but a false start penalty and an incompletion brought on the punt team. Malaki Starks picked up nine yards, and after a run for seven yards to the UGA 34, time runs out on the first quarter with Georgia ahead by a field goal.
Georgia drives the distance, settles for field goal (UGA 3-0 2:10 1Q)
11/2/2024, 4:18:56 PMStarting inside its own 15 yard line, Carson Beck got Georgia out to midfield quickly with a completion of 25 yards to Arian Smith. UGA picked up a big third down moments later on a screen play catch-and-run by Dominic Lovett. Peyton Woodring makes from 23 yards out.
GEORGIA 3 – FLORIDA 0 – 2:10 1Q
Malaki Starks deep on the punt
11/2/2024, 4:07:22 PMFlorida moved the chains once but the Gators give it right back to the Bulldogs. Georgia forced an incompletion and bottled up the run, bringing DJ Lagway down short of the line to gain. Back deep on the punt return was Malaki Starks. UGA takes over at its 12.
Georgia forced to punt on opening drive
11/2/2024, 3:59:24 PMCarson Beck completed his first three passes, but the Bulldog drive will end in a punt. A shot down the Georgia sideline to Cash Jones on the wheel route fell incomplete. UGA lined up to go for it past midfield, tried to draw Florida offsides and took the delay of game. 35-yard punt goes out of bounds at the FLA13.
Micah Morris Injury
11/2/2024, 3:53:01 PMOpening drive of the game and Georgia has an injury along the offensive line. Right guard Micah Morris goes down. Likely to be replaced by Tate Ratledge, making his return from injury after missing the last four games.
Captains and Coin Toss
11/2/2024, 3:42:52 PMCaptains for Georgia today: Carson Beck, CJ Allen, Tate Ratledge, Chaz Chambliss / Florida wins the toss and Georgia will receive the opening kickoff moving left to right on your screen.
Travel Roster is Complete
11/2/2024, 3:13:41 PMGeorgia has taken the field for warmups, and with that, we’ve got our official travel roster for the Bulldogs. 74 players made the trip to Jacksonville with just two changes from the last road game. A home-state guy (Troy Bowles) was traded for Michael Uini, a Texas native from the last road trip, while a wide receiver (Walter Blanchard) replaces the injured Anthony Evans.
Punt Return Prep
11/2/2024, 2:56:33 PMWithout Anthony Evans available as the punt returner today, here would appear to be Georgia’s options (based on who’s catching punts in pregame): Malaki Starks, Sacovie White, Michael Jackson, Dominic Lovett, Trevor Etienne, Nate Frazier, Dillon Bell and Cash Jones.
Official Kickoff Time Update
11/2/2024, 2:47:18 PMKickoff time for Georgia-Florida moved back to 3:50 p.m. ET, still on ABC with the Miami-Duke game just hitting the end of the third quarter (32-28 UM).
Another Interesting Addition
11/2/2024, 2:32:57 PMAnother player on the travel roster that hasn’t been on there most of the season. That would be redshirt freshman Troy Bowles, son of Todd Bowles. He’s a South Florida product with his father as the head coach of the Buccaneers. Just a theory, outside of him being a Sunshine State native, he could be a backup DIME backer for the Bulldogs in the first half with Dan Jackson and Joenel Aguero out for targeting suspesions.
Initial Warmups Underway
11/2/2024, 2:10:40 PMKeeping track of the travel roster as players start to take the field. Wide receivers have an interesting addition to their normal group. Without Anthony Evans available today, walk-on Walter Blanchard has made the trip.
Injury Report
11/2/2024, 2:09:30 PMGame-day injury report is out from the SEC. No serious changes for Georgia. Tate Ratledge and Jordan Hall, both of whom were listed as probable throughout the week, are off while the remainder stays the same.
Cocktail Party Pregame
11/2/2024, 1:03:30 PMThe DawgsHQ crew has arrived. Kickoff time is set for 3:30 p.m. ET on ABC. Georgia usually arrives at the stadium two hours and 15 minutes ahead of the game’s start. We’ll keep you updated on what we see as the Bulldogs get to EverBank Stadium.
