MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. — It’s game day for the final time in 2023 as No. 6 Georgia takes on fifth-ranked Florida State in the Capital One Orange Bowl. Kickoff from HardRock Stadium is set for 4:00 p.m. ET on ESPN.

It’s the 12th time the Bulldogs and Seminoles have met with the last matchup coming in the 2003 Sugar Bowl. Georgia won that 26-13 and holds a 6-4-1 advantage all-time in the series.

“We’re excited to get down here. We had a Monday practice on Christmas Day, we got a Tuesday practice in this morning. We wanted to get down here so we could get used to the weather a little bit tomorrow, and hopefully avoid rain on Thursday,” Georgia head coach Kirby Smart said upon arrival in Miami. “But our guys have been great. Had really good practices the last two days. Practice has been a lot better since we came back. Got a lot of midyears here. I’m excited to see how these guys are going to play.”

“We want them to enjoy it. They’ve earned this opportunity. That’s what bowls are. They’re meant to be fun,” he added. “I think our senior class of guys, they really want to finish on top. They want to get to 50 wins for the senior class, we’re at 49. It’s really important to them that they hit that number and do something special. They want to walk off the field winners. Sedrick Van Pran, all these seniors, they want to finish on top.”

FOURTH QUARTER

  • END 4Q – Georgia wins 63-3 over Florida State in a game that’ll go down in the record books as the most lopsided bowl game of all time.
  • Luke Bennett with a reception from Drake. Will bring on a kneel down.
  • Muschamp takes off for a 14 yard gain. Rotating between him and Collin Drake at quarterback.
  • Jackson Muschamp in the game at quarterback, taking a snap from Drew Bobo. Bulldogs getting all sorts of guys in the game.
  • PUNT FSU – Florida State goes three-and-out with a pair of freshmen Jamaal Jarrett and Chris Peal combining for the tackle to force the punt.
  • PUNT UGA – Brett Thorson gets his first action of the night on the 11th drive. Turnover on downs followed by nine straight touchdowns.

  • PUNT FSU – Seminoles go three and out with a Gabe Harris forced fumble backing them up 10 yards. Georgia will take over after the punt at its own 22.
  • TOUCHDOWN UGA – Gunner Stockton finds Anthony Evans in the corner of the end zone for a 14-yard score. He picks up an unsportsmanlike, but that’s one I’m sure he’ll take. First career touchdown for him. (UGA 63-3 12:10 4Q)
  • Roderick Robinson opens the fourth quarter with a 20 yard pickup. That was a 4th and 2 conversion. Gunner Stockton follows with another first down, a scramble of 14 yards.

THIRD QUARTER

  • END 3Q – Georgia leads 56-3 with 15 minutes to go. Bulldogs will have it at their own 41 when play resumes.
  • Ladd McConkey, Sedrick Van Pran, Kendall Milton, Daijun Edwards and Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint get their send off as Kirby Smart calls his first timeout. Expecting something similar to happen on defense later.
  • INTERCEPTION FSU – Daylen Everette picks off Brock Glenn and Georgia’s got it back after just two plays from Florida State. First career interception for him.
  • TOUCHDOWN UGA – First career touchdown pass for Gunner Stockton. First career touchdown catch for Lawson Luckie. Stockton drives UGA 90 yards in 10 plays. PAT is good. (UGA 56-3 2:30 3Q)
  • Gunner Stockton keeps for a gain of 13 to the FSU 4. Came one play after a first-down pickup from Roderick Robinson and sets up a 1st and Goal.
  • Drive has featured an offensive line Georgia will likely use at times next season: Earnest Greene, Micah Morris, Jared, Wilson, Dylan Fairchild and Monroe Freeling. UGA expecting Tate Ratledge back as well.
  • Georgia driving again. Three first downs in the first five plays of the series. Timeout on the field for an injured Seminole. Will be 3rd and 2 UGA at the FSU 26 when play resumes.
  • PUNT FSU – Florida State moves the chains only off of a facemask. CJ Allen with a blitz that causes an errant throw from Brock Glenn. Seminoles punt it away.
TOUCHDOWN UGA – Edwards caps off the 10-play, 75-yard touchdown drive with his second touchdown of the night. (UGA 49-3 9:23 3Q)
  • Cash Jones has Georgia in a 1st and Goal from the 2.
  • One handed catch from Daijun Edwards, and he picks up 28. 1st and 10 at the FSU 33.
  • Stockton moves the chains with a scramble on 3rd and 2. His second scramble in three plays.
  • Second half gets underway with backup quarterback Gunner Stockton in the game for Georgia. Bulldog ball at the 25 after the touchback. First team offense aside from Stockton.

SECOND QUARTER

  • HALF – No. 6 Georgia will go into the locker room up 42-3 over No. 5 Florida State. The 39-point halftime lead is largest in Orange Bowl history. Also the most first-half points since West Virginia in 2012. Bulldogs hold the largest bowl game margin of victory from last year’s 65-7 National Championship win. We’ll see what happens with this lead in the second half.
  • INTERCEPTION FSU – Malaki Starks picks off Brock Glenn to end first-half action.
  • TOUCHDOWN UGA – Beck to Dominic Lovett for the score. Georgia now has even more points scored in the first half of this one than it did last year in the National Championship vs. TCU. (UGA 42-3 0:24 2Q)
  • Pass interference in the end zone on an attempt for Anthony Evans. Will be 1st and Goal from the FSU 2 as a result.
  • Carson Beck completes to Dillon Bell down the sideline. Incredible catch by him gives Georgia the ball at the FSU 15 with 37 seconds to go.
  • FUMBLE FSU – Glenn is sacked on 3rd and 10 from the 25. He fumbles, recovered by Mykel Williams. Georgia will take over with 49 seconds to go.
  • Brock Glenn completes for a gain of 26 to the UGA 25. 1st and 10 from there.
  • Florida State has one of its longest drives of the day going. Seminoles are just shy of midfield in seven plays including a third down conversion. Facing another third down, this one with 10 to go. Just over a minute remaining in the half. Noles used a timeout already and have none left.
  • TOUCHDOWN UGA – First passing score of the day for Georgia with Carson Beck finding Arian Smith on a tunnel screen. He takes it 12 yards to the house. (UGA 35-3 3:39 2Q)

  • TURNOVER ON DOWNS UGA – 4th and 3 attempt to Dillon Bell is incomplete. Georgia gives it to Florida State at the FSU 34.
  • Lovett with a 19-yard pickup for Georgia on 3rd and 22. Georgia going for it on 4th and 3.
  • Carson Beck completes to Dominic Lovett for a gain of 17 yards. Attempting to take a shot on the next play, Beck is sacked. He fumbles, but it’s recovered by UGA.
  • Kendall Milton with a nice run of 14 yards after an 8-yard carry on the previous play.
  • PUNT FSU – UGA gets off the field on its first third down of the game with a Brock Glenn incompletion. Anthony Evans, wearing No. 9 today, returning.
  • Raylen Wilson makes the start at inside linebacker in place of Smael Mondon.
  • Jared Zirkel, who entered the transfer portal, handling kickoff duties. Kirby Smart explained that as a unique situation. Dan Jackson with the tackle at the FSU 10.

PREGAME

  • Georgia wins the toss and defers decision to the second half. Florida State will receiver, moving right to left on your screen.
  • Defensive lineman Christen Miller was not spotted during warmups. Neither was Amarius Mims on the other side of the line of scrimmage. Looked like it would be Xavier Truss in his right tackle spot if he’s out.
  • Kamari Lassiter went through his normal warmup but did so without his normal attire. No wrist tape, gloves or arm sleeve. Read into that what you want. Without Julian Humphrey and the transfer portal entries, Georgia would be left with just Daylen Everette, Daniel Harris and Chris Peal at cornerback.
  • Another group has made its way onto the field: no Smael Mondon with the inside linebackers. As for the outside linebackers, just three: Chaz Chambliss, Gabe Harris and Sam M’Pemba.
  • Tight ends warming up are Oscar Delp, Lawson Luckie and Pearce Spurlin, plus walk-ons. No sign of Brock Bowers however.
  • Early enrollees have arrived on the sidelines for this one. Group includes the following: Chris Cole (9), Sacovie White (0), Jaden Reddell (23), Joseph Jonah-Ajonye (99), Justin Williams (4), Ellis Robinson (12), Demello Jones (1), Marques Easley (57), Ondre Evans (1), Ryan Puglisi (3), Colton Heinrich (82), London Humphreys (83), Nnamdi Ogboko (55), Daniel Calhoun (58), Nitro Tuggle (3), Quintavious Johnson (3). Put no stock in majority of these numbers. Obviously several doubled up.
  • Captains for Georgia: Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint, Javon Bullard, Kamari Lassiter and Sedrick Van Pran. Same group as the SEC Championship Game, indicating those are your four “permanent” team captains.
